Continuation...
"Mom's here?" Dominic couldn't process what he just heard. That crazy mother of his is here and was currently talking with his wife.
When James nodded, Dominic stood up with a grim expression. The thought of her mother being here didn't cross his mind. He thought it was someone else and James and Martha were hiding something, but it was actually his father's wife, the woman who birthed him into this world.
James stood up along with Dominic. He's well informed about the family's misunderstanding. How Dominic loathed both of his parents, and how he blamed them for his friend's death. James tried to calm the young man down to prevent him from doing impulsive things.
"Dominic, she's still your mother. Silvia's death wasn't completely their fault." James loudly said as he followed him outside their home.
Hearing the name that he kept on digging deep within him, Dominic angrily turned around and threateningly looked at the old man.
"Never mention that name again. I don't want to hear it ever again." He said in a cold voice. Silvia was a friend he looked up to dearly. She was older than Dominic for 2 years and she was a strong lady. It's all because of that agreement that drove her to take her own life in front of Dominic.
James was ashamed and looked down. He lets Dominic walk away towards the stable. He didn't stop him anymore. James thought that maybe this is the right time they mend their broken bond.
Dominic walked fast towards the stable but he wasn't there. Not seeing Elliam to where he was supposed to made him feel dreadful. Dominic walked a little further and looked around trying to find Elliam. But he stopped on his track when he heard laughter near him. Hearing that familiar laughter made Dominic let out a nervous sigh.
Family or not, he won't forgive his mother if she did something to harm his wife. Dominic walks to a corner and watches how the two laugh at each other. His mother and wife were both giggling at the rabbits scattering around. He also noticed that Elliam was holding an apple.
"Hon." Dominic called and showed himself from the corner. Elliam and Mary simultaneously turned their heads towards the voice.
Elliam smiled when he saw his husband while Mary abruptly stood up after seeing Dominic. She unconsciously took a step back and didn't know what to say to her son after all the years of them not seeing each other. She was having fun talking with Elliam that she forgot to leave before Dominic came to look for his wife. Confronting Dominic wasn't her plan, she only wanted to meet Elliam secretly. Without his husband by her side, Mary became a coward towards Dominic.
"D-domin--" Mary didn't finish her word when Elliam beamed and ran to his husband. Both flinched after seeing Elliam being careless, especially Dominic who immediately encircled his arms around his adorable sprout.
"Be more careful, Ellie. I'm not going anywhere." The dangerous and cold voice he was using earlier was now replaced by a soft and endearing tone when he talked to Elliam.
"Dom, I saw the horses up close. They're so huge, I want to ride one." Elliam told his husband. Dominic listened to Elliam, he also went to grab the apple from Elliam's hand. It has no bite marks and Elliam seems like he was only holding it and didn't bite on the apple. Dominic was glad it was untouched because he was guessing Elliam only picked it up from the ground.
"Dr. Lewis told me to not let you do horseback riding. It's dangerous for you and the baby so we can only watch and touch those horses, but not ride them." Dominic patiently told his wife. He bent down to kiss him on the lips when he saw him pouting. Elliam could only nod. He can be stubborn sometimes, but he'll behave when Dominic says no.
Although he was sulking, Elliam turned his body to introduce Mary to Dominic. "Her name's Mary, she accompanied me while you talk with the owners. She was such a great person."
" She didn't hurt you?" Dominic asked. His eyes remained on Elliam even when he introduced the woman.
Elliam scoffed at Dominic. "Why'd you think that? I just told you she's a great person."
Dominic then took a glimpse at his mother. She was standing alone not far from them. Although he doesn't want to talk with his mother, he can't ignore her any longer. Dominic tapped his wife's bum and told him to go watch the rabbits scattering around while he talk with Mary. Elliam aggreed and left to go watch the rabbits hopping near them.
Dominic's peaceful face when he was talking with Elliam, changed into a poker face when he turned to his mother.
"Dad knows you're here?" Dominic started. He said it loud enough for Mary to hear. Seeing his mother flinching in her place made Dominic sigh.
"Go home before he notices you're missing. We both know he'll wreck havoc when he doesn't know where you are." Dominic continued.
"He doesn't need to know every move I make. I came here on my own, and I'll go home when I wanted to go home." Mary replied. She was fighting the urge to hug her son. Dominic grew up so well that Mary wanted to cry in regret. He was just a teenager when he left, but now he already has his own family. He's even married without her knowing. If she didn't pressure August and Xavier to tell her, she'll remain oblivious until Dominic himself tells her about Elliam.
"Mom..." Dominic flatly called. Mary teared up after hearing him say the word 'mom', but she was taken aback by Dominic's next words.
"...I don't want you near us again. I'll let this slide this time, please go home." Dominic was looking at his own mother like a stranger. She can act like a victim in front of Dominic, but Dominic won't forget the worst things she made Silvia do before. Driving her nuts until she couldn't take it anymore. Her mother killed his best friend and sister.
Mary couldn't take it anymore. Tears flowing on her cheeks and her shoulders trembling from holding back her sobs. With her weakened legs, Mary kneeled on the ground.
Elliam who was watching the two got startled. He didn't understand why they're fighting. However, seeing Mary being so weak made his heart melt. He walked towards the woman and hugged her shoulder. Elliam looked at his husband with a frown.
"Ellie, come here." Dominic discreetly said to his wife. How they view Mary was different, Dominic see her as an evil mother, while Elliam consider her as a great person. Dominic sighed when Elliam shakes his head while still frowning at him.
"Elliam." Dominic called calmly. Trying not to scare Elliam.
Although Elliam could hear his husband, he didn't mind him anymore and asked Mary why she's crying. He looked at her worriedly and even helped wipe the tears on her cheeks using the sleeves of his sweater.
"Dominic is really mean sometimes, but he's not a bad guy." Elliam sweetly whispered to Mary.
