Tord's POV:
This is the end, isn't it?
Burning pieces of scrap metal tumbling down to the fire scorched grass. The wing blows away the smog to reveal an endless blue sky. Seemingly unbothered by the carnage.
I'd move, if I could. My arm is nothing but a gnarled and bloody mess now. My right eye is complete blind. My ears ring like a thousand tiny voices screaming at me.
I would beg for forgiveness if I could even talk.
A car drives over, screeching to a sudden stop. Dust stirs.
Stepping out is Pat and Paul. I'd always known them as my two finest soldiers. Loyal and efficient since day one. I wave them over slowly with my unbroken arm.
"S-sir!" Stammers out Paul, griping my shoulder as Pat rushes back to the car.
He comes back lugging a first aid kit and a large machine. It's used to reattach limbs, if I remember correctly. I look down to see my leg missing, thrown carelessly into the scrap pile.
I shake my head somberly.
"T-there's no help for me now... Stand down soldier." I command, coughing.
Paul and Pat exchange a worried glance.
"But sir-" Pat begins.
"You two are in... command n-now. May the Red Army... forever prosper." I managed to wheeze.
And then the world fades to darkness.
...
"Tord... Tord... Tord. Now is the time to wake up my child. You cannot sleep any longer if you wish for a chance at forgiveness."
My eyes snap open. I expect to be in a hospital bed, or perhaps in the flaming pits of hell. Instead the scene is... peaceful. An ever-stretching plain of white, directionless and free. I float in the white, my body feeling numb. I look down, astounded to see I'm no longer injured.
"W-where am I?" I inquire.
The voice seems to pause, as though mulling the question over.
"It is known as the end." It finally responds. "It is not the end for you however."
I turn to face the voice. But there's no one there. Just an echoing sound, reverberating in my skull.
"You have been given a chance to repent. Another life to live, but not one in sin. This is a life were you shall be better. Do better. Act better."
I would've asked another question. Any question would've been fine, really. But the voice grew silent and the white faded away.
And now I was back in my childhood room.
It wasn't a pretty sight, to say in the least. The floor was concrete, as were the walls, only the doors and windows offered any change from the pattern. But the window was high. And small. Just a glimmer of light in the dull room. And the door was always locked. As long as I had remembered right.
"So this really is true." I softly spoke, though to no one particular.
I scanned the rooms for any sign of the date. Or how old I was.
There. A cracked mirror, dirty and blood stained. It wasn't pleasant, but it would have to do.
From the looks of it, I was about six. My hair was darker, although also a bit dirtier, and my hair horns were significantly shorter. My eyes gleamed bright red in the darkness.
My clothes weren't anything to brag about either. A long white T-shirt, so long is looked like a dress, was the only thing I wore. And it had been worn so much the white faded to gray.
