A Fugitive In Disguise

Chapter 1: Escape

Claire's P.O.V

It was another day. Just me, my cell, and the cells around me. Tonight was the night. The night I would finally escape. I could still remember that faithful day when I was captured, taken from my home, and thrown in here, all because my mother, Jade, had tried to save an entire species from extinction. I was partially that species. A hybrid of 2 kinds. Humans, and Gems. A half human, and a half gem, which made me different from every gem and every human. I had always wondered if there were others like me, or was I the only one. I thought for hours before I realized that the guards were gone. I slowly looked around, making sure the coast was clear. I was correct. There wasn't a single guard in sight, just the other gem criminals around me. I slowly stood, and walked through the yellow barrier in front of me. I had always been able to walk through it, since it was meant to hold full gems, not half ones. I slowly made my way to Topaz's cage. "Claire! Is tonight the night?" she asked me. I nodded my head. "Now let's find Carnelian, and get out of here," I said to her, determined to escape, then find Onyx. I had been trying to escape for 7 years, since I was 12 now, and Topaz, Carnelian, and I had been taken here when I was 5. Onyx had been my third protector, the only one of us to escape. I found Carnelian, then got her out. We ran towards the hangar, where all the ships were held. Then just as we opened the hangar door, the alarm sounded. I could hear the metal floor clanging, a sign we were going to get caught. I ran into a ship, waiting for Carnelian and Topaz. "Claire, get in, and set the ship to auto pilot" Carnelian said. "But" Carnelian interrupted me. "Now!" Carnelian yelled. She slammed the the door shut. "Carnelian, Topaz, what are you doing?" I screamed. "We have to find Onyx. Listen, Claire. Set the ship's course for Earth. There are gems there who will welcome you with open arms. All you have to do is tell them who your mother is" Carnelian said. "Topaz, talk some sense into her!" I yelled. "Trust me, she knows what she's doing" Topaz said with a smile. "Claire, go. That's an order" Carnelian said. I knew I had no choice. When Carnelian said the word "order" in a sentence, she was definitely not gonna change her mind. I put my hands against the glass. "We love you, Claire" Carnelian and Topaz said to me. "I love you guys, too" I whispered. I ran into the control room, and set the ship's course for Earth. Soon, it flew into the sky. But not before I saw Carnelian and Topaz's forms split apart by 2 gem distableizers. "No!" I screamed. Then, something struck the engine. I put in hyperdrive. "For Carnelian. For Topaz" I whispered. Soon, Homeworld was gone, Carnelian and Topaz along with it.
