Alea is a young woman. In her family she is the most spoiled. She is disciplined just as much. Her family might see her as a passionate girl who could always get her way just by the way she talks. She is a master in negotiation. Her dream is to live a peaceful life with a flower business.
Alea comes from a poor family. Her father, Osman, is a mechanic and her mother, Farah, is a hotel janitor for one of the finest hotels in New York. Her older Kasim, a very big goofball, helps the family any chance he can but it's not enough. They can't afford this American lifestyle anymore. "I'm sorry Farah. I will fix this." Osman always took the blame for his family's problems. A few weeks after the new year, a cool Thursday night, right after Alea went to bed, Osman, Farah, and Kasim were talking in their kitchen. "Isn't there any other way Dad? Alea will be crushed!" Farah nods her head in anger, but not angry at Kasim, but at herself. She murmurs "What have I done?" Osman caresses her arm "Nothing wrong. Alea is a kind girl- a smart girl. This is just the way it has to be." They all nod their heads in the same anger as Farah. "Alea will be marrying my friend, Amir's son, Adil. Amir was a good friend of Osman's. "He is strong and handsome. Alea will be happy." Osman clears his throat. He didn't believe it. He felt guilty to marry off his daughter. To shorten her last few years of youth. He thought "I will make it up to her, forgive me my lord." The next morning , Alea woke up for breakfast but the house was full of sorrow. For the first time Alea saw Kasim moping in his room and Farah picking at her food and day dreaming at the dining table. Osman kept a  happy face for Alea. "What's going on? Why is Kasim sad? Why is Mom so quiet? What's going on?" Alea protested. No one would answer her. She became furious. "Why won't anyone tell me anything!" Her fists in the air. Farah stood up and grabbed them. She held them tight but then released her hands and hugged Alea. "I'm so sorry my daughter forgive me." Osman also joined in the hug. "I'm sorry Alea." Kasim came from his room to also hug Alea. "What's happening!?" Osman released from the hug and looked at Farah, Kasim, then Alea. "You are getting married." Alea's eyes shot open. "What." She looked to Kasim and Farah for verification. It was true. "What do you mean i'm getting married? That isn't funny!" Osman began to tear up. "We can't afford to live in New York anymore. You will marry Amir's son Adil in Morocco. There we will work and live with them." Alea was in disbelief. There was no way she was getting married, but then she realized her reality and felt sorry for her family. "When?" Kasim lifted his head, he was shocked to see Alea not complaining like she always does. Kasim responds. "In 2 days we are leaving for Morocco but the wedding is a week after." Alea sighs. "Okay." She gets up and starts packing her stuff.

2 days later

Alea says says goodbye to all her school friends and is prepared for her departure. "Thank you daughter." Osman says before kissing her forehead then stepping onto the plane. She's happy to make her family happy. She thought, 'Maybe I'll fall in love and live a peaceful life and have a flower shop. Adil is not so bad.
On the plane Alea thinks about her encounters with Adil. When they first met as kids, when he cried when she was leaving Morocco, and how chubby he was. "Ew!" She covered her hand on her mouth because next to her Kasim was asleep.
A few hours in the flight Alea played games, watched movies, and ate a bunch of food. Kasim woke up in the night. He whispered to Alea. "Are you sure you're okay? I can take you back if you don't like it. I'll make lots of money for you and we can have a flower shop in New York." Alea smiles. "I will be okay." They start talking about the wedding and how fat Adil was back then. In a few hours the plane will land and she will be in Marrakesh, Morocco.
