(Y/N)'s sister tossed and turned in bed, grumbling under her breath as she flipped her pillow over to the cool side. She couldn't seem to get comfortable. Each time she dozed off ended up in her getting jarred awake by (Y/N) in the living room, doing something far too loud at midnight.

"(Y/N)! Stop making a racket!" she hissed, covering her head with the pillow.

There was a pause. Then stumbling feet before he poked his head through the gap of the door, blinking owlishly. "Sorry, I won't be loud anymore. Are you feeling better?"

She didn't understand why he had to ask how she was feeling right then. All she wanted was to go to bed and wake up hopefully feeling better in the morning. After the doctor checked her out, he concluded that it was a simple respiratory infection, and gave her some antibiotics to help. But now it wasn't her sickness keeping her up at night.

She was eleven years old, for heaven's sake! He was acting like a headless chicken over nothing.

"I'm fine. Stop messing in the living room and go to bed."

Whatever (Y/N) was doing, she didn't want to know, and he wasn't willing to share. She shot him a glare before hiding her face and closing her eyes. Maybe now she would finally be able to get some sweet shut-eye.

He frowned. After the Grand Master was gracious enough to help his sister, he'd been paranoid about other things. They ruled it out as a respiratory infection... but he didn't buy it. There was something else going on. The hairs on the back of his neck wouldn't lay down. It wasn't that he didn't trust the Grand Master—he was just worried that the curse was tricking them too!

He had to protect his baby sister. So being a little extra wouldn't harm anyone.

The whole living room was moved around. Ropes were tied on the door to keep them closed and salt was sprinkled in a white line over all the window sills. The sofa was pushed against the back door so no one could come inside. The fire place crackled, and for extra measure, he sprinkled salt around it as well. No evil spirits would sneak in on his watch!

"Come to bed, (Y/N)!" his sister snapped.

"But—"

"Now!"

He frowned. Shed make her throat sore if she continued yelling at him to go to bed, so he decided to call it a night. His precautions would be enough, right? He doubted the demon would crawl inside his house when he went as far as to block off all the openings.
