"LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT", Maeve situated her feet upon their dining table and crossed her arms.
"You did the exact opposite of what George and I told you to do and you still think you're in the right?"
"Dick move Lockwood.", George agreed with Maeve.
"How? I flattered her on national television", Anthony retorted glancing at Maeve who still had a stern look on her face "George, you wanted me to fire her last night, and Maeve you didn't even want her to be part of our agency in the first place."
"It's the principle of it, Lockwood. You don't just throw people under the bus like that. I'll go talk to her." Maeve briskly exited the kitchen, leaving the two boys alone as she made her way to the basement.
Her soft steps go unnoticed, given the fact that Lucy's metal music was turned up to represent the turmoil, and fermented agitation she was feeling inside at the moment.
"Carlyle? You okay?", Maeve was leaning against the door, not entirely sure how to approach the visibly angry, and irritated girl who was currently fighting her demons by slashing mist.
"What are you doing here?", Lucy swiftly wiped her forehead as a few beads of sweat started to accumulate.
"I wanted to check up on you. See if you're okay... Lockwo— ", Maeve tried to somewhat console the newcomer but was interrupted by that same girl: "But you hate me. Why would you want to check up on me?"
"I don't hate you, Lucy. I just—I have a hard time trusting new people. And being around them for that matter. You've started to grow on me ever since you joined our little crew."
Lucy's eyes softened at her confession, a small smile appearing on her face, as she took a few steps towards Maeve, who in the process pushed off the door frame and stood up straight, diligently staring at Lucy's hand that she just outstretched. "New beginnings?"
Maeve proceeded to shake the warm hand of her newly accounted companion, with a small smile plastered on her face. "New beginnings.", she agreed.
"Hi there. I'm Lucy Carlyle."
"Maeve Spade. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance."
But their gratifying moment was soon severed by Anthony Lockwood, who entered the room the girls were located in.
"We've got a problem", he met Maeve's eyes before moving his sight to Lucy "Inspector Barnes wants to see you."
