"A woman must not depend on the protection of man, but must be taught to protect herself." - Susan B. Anthony

Rory felt her stomach twist as she and Emily pulled up to the club. They had spent the majority of the flight trying to gain any insight into the Unsub. There was evidence of rape on each of the victims and the antemortem assault suggested he was a sexual sadist. The similarities between victims had been dissected in brief as it was clear to all that either he had a type or they were surrogates. No one mentioned the fact that it would be too easy for Rory to gain his attention that night as she essentially ticked all his boxes. It was evident that everyone thought it as the silence following the discussion of victimology had been thick and unyielding. Thankfully a well-timed call from Garcia brought everyone's attention back in.

"Are you gonna be okay with this?" Emily asked as she turned the car off. Pausing to look at Rory before either exited.

"Not you too," Rory groaned rolling her eyes as she released her seatbelt. She turned to face Emily. "It's one thing for Reid to be pissy and doubtful about all of this. But you've known me for years and I've been in situations far more dangerous than this."

Emily couldn't argue with that remembering cases they had worked together in the past, Rory was damn good at playing a part. They walked towards the door quietly slipping inside.

Local PD had cleared all employees and they had been informed of the operation they were going to conduct. They had been open to trying anything.

"You must be with the FBI," a woman says stepping out from behind the bar as they enter the main room.

"I'm Agent Prentiss, this is Agent James. Thank you for agreeing to this," Emily says with a small smile.

"Thank you for trying to look after my girls," she replies shaking their hands. "I'm Jo but round here the girls call me Mom," she smiles at the two women, but they both see past it. From what they had been told unlike many of the establishments around Jo looked after her girls.

"Can you give us a quick tour?" Emily asks and Jo nods, motioning for the pair to follow her. Rory mentally mapped out each room and area, noting exit routes and places she could hide her service weapon seeing as she wouldn't have anywhere to hide it. She also made notes of where the techs should set up surveillance cameras once they arrived. Ensuring the girl's privacy was maintained without compromising their safety.

Rory hated working cases with sex workers. It wasn't to do with their profession as much as the fact that almost all of them had no choice in their path in life. It made her sick to talk about 'high risk' victims as if they chose to be at risk. Rory also knew how close she had come to living this life. If she hadn't managed to pull things around. If she hadn't been plucked from obscurity and introduced to this world years ago. She could have been just like any of the girls working the club. It felt like a gun went off an inch from her face each time she'd work a case like this.

Jo leads them to a dressing room in the back introducing us to the other girls. Emily handled most of the talking knowing Rory preferred to focus on things like mannerisms and colloquialism in speech patterns before taking on a job. She was like a method actor studying for the role of a lifetime. Rory watched the way Jo greeted each of the girls. She would hug them and hold them at arms length surveying them for any sign of distress or injury, greeting them by name, asking about their parents, their children, their lives. Rory decided Mom was an appropriate title for her. Rory placed her bag down in the dressing room as most of the girls left to start the day shift. The fact that a day shift even existed at a place like this made Rory's stomach churn. She pulled her 'uniform' for the evening out of her bag rolling her eyes at the tiny scraps of lace. She was laying out her belongings as Emily's phone buzzed, Emily flashed the screen at Rory showing it was Hotch calling before she stepped out of the room to take the call.
