People passed by. She could see as their tall and broad bodies passed by her, not sparing a glance in her direction, as if she wasn't there.
It was cold and she could feel it, the air was cold and dry, it sent a chill into her bones and had her skin prickling at the sensation.
She could smell something.
Something foul and strong, the smell made its way into her nose and stayed there, scrunching her nose in an attempt to get rid of it was futile.
A bright light blurred her vision, she couldn't see clearly, a heavy weight was starting to form in her chest, applying a strong force of pressure and limiting the amount of oxygen that entered her lungs.
Taking a step, she faltered; it felt as if she were floating... As if the step she had just taken had led her into another place, her foot landing firmly on the floor beneath her.
They spoke too– they spoke in hushed voices, and she had to strain her ear in order to make out what words were exchanged between them.
"It's ready–" Then the sound faded, as another soundwave intercepted their voices.
Two people passed by her side, again, they carried out a hushed conversation. "Bring him down."
Where was she? Why couldn't she see?
Sudden movement caught her attention, a man– or what looked like one, made its way towards her. He was feet away, but his stride never faltered in pace, he would knock into her, and knock her to the ground.
She stepped away, missing the man by a millimeter. He continued on, the tap of his shoe echoed on the cold floor not faltering.
Then he stopped.
Something inside of her awoke, a hum in the back of her head which grew louder, almost speaking to her. It ached for something, as always.
Turning her head just in time to catch sight of another figure, this time being carried— no, it was being dragged by two tall shadows. They were all men.
The figure slumped, its neck hanging low. She couldn't see it, but she could feel its raw emotion, its fear, she could feel as it raked up its body. As it consumed it whole.
It called for her, the hum grew louder, calling for her almost enchantingly.
She'd taken a step, she was closer now. A strong sense of panic filled her body, was she sweating?
