Damn- can't even describe how terrible I felt that day. I woke up with my head pounding inside my skull, but I was happy to at least be at my boy Dubo's place. It's better than waking up on a random stranger's couch. Were we drinking last night? In fact, I could hardly remember any part of yesterday at all.
I went to the bathroom and swished some toothpaste around in my mouth with my finger, pulled my red hoodie on over my beat up grey tee shirt, and decided to leave before anyone noticed me. Yeah, Dubo was my friend...but that didn't make it any less embarrassing to have to ask him if I could sleep at his house because I had no where else to go but the streets.
I hopped on my old longboard, which I found at a local dump, and started riding toward the school since class was gonna start soon. Not that I want to go to class...but let's be real. The school at least has heating, and October can get pretty cold.
Suddenly, I remembered something real important that happened the day before- Tatie. Damn, she was beautiful. Her eyes were a perfect kind of green, like new leaves growing on a tree. She had a cute little body, but curvy in all the right places. And she had this mystery about her that made me want to know her more. Before long, I reached Skaker Heights...and for the first time in, well, ever...I was actually happy to be at school. Knowing that I was gonna see Tatie again was the one thing I had that I could actually look forward to.
Sometimes, when something so good takes over your thoughts, you completely forget about the bad things. Sounds like it would be a good thing, right? Think again. When me and Tatie were talking today in class...I let my guard down. My guard against the scumbags that try to beat on me everyday that I need to keep a constant eye out for so I can defend myself. I was in the middle of talking to Tatie when these two guys, DaShaun and JR, started giving me shit when I wasn't expecting it. They basically de-man-ified me in front of this girl who barely knows me, and now she's gonna think I'm some kind of retard that can't fight back because he's weak and stupid and honestly really buzzed and tired and feeling pretty done with life. So what was I supposed to do, try to explain this all to her? It would only make things worse. So I did what made the most sense; avoiding her. Maybe in a few days she would forget, or I could redeem myself and prove to her how tough I could be.The day went on, and by the end of classes Tatie seemed like she has more friends than I did. She was hanging out a lot with this girl Rylan and her crew. They were a semi-popular group, so that's a pretty good start for Tatie I guess. We had a bunch of classes together, but she pretty much avoided me in every one. Whatever. If she's gonna be a bitch like that, then I don't really need her...right?
