Maya's POV

"Now we have come to final portion of this year's Charity Hoedown." Lavender says which earns a sad awww from the crowd. "But we'll be back next year."

"Ooh yay." Jucinara says as the crowd cheer.

"And for the final four songs I'm gonna need a little help from some friends." Lavender says. "And my first friend is my favorite person from Tennessee, Mr. Jelly Roll."

"Ooh I like him." Christen says.

"Me too." A bunch of my friends say as Jelly Roll walks on stage and joins Lavender on stage.

"This song is called Almost Home." Lavender says then she and the band start playing.

A few seconds into the song my soulmate starts singing.

He had plastic bags wrapped 'round his shoes
He was covered with the evening news
Had a pair of old wool socks on his hands
The bank sign was flashing 5 below
It was freezing rain and spittin' snow
He was curled up behind some garbage cans
I was afraid that he was dead
I gave him a gentle shake
When he opened up his eyes
I said, "Oh man are you ok?"

"What'd he said Jelly?" Lavender says then Jelly Roll starts singing.

"I just climbed out of a cottonwood tree." Jelly Roll sings. "I was runnin' from some honey bees"

"Drip dryin' in the summer breeze." Lavender sings. "After jumpin' into Calico creek."

"I was walkin' down an old dirt road." Jelly Roll sings. "Past a field of hay that had just been mowed. Man I wish you'd just left me alone, Cause I was almost home"

"He said "I was just comin' round the barn"." Lavender sings. "'Bout the time you grabbed my arm, when I heard Momma holler, 'Son hurry up'."

"I was close enough for my old nose." Jelly sings. "To smell fresh cobbler on the stove And I saw daddy loadin' up the truck. Cane poles on the tailgate, Bobbers blowin' in the wind."

"Since July of '55, That's as close as I've been." Lavender sings then she and Jelly duet.

I just climbed out of a cottonwood tree
I was runnin' from some honey bees
Drip dryin' in the summer breeze
After jumpin' into Calico creek
I was walkin' down an old dirt road
Past a field of hay that had just been mowed
Man I wish you'd just left me alone
'Cause I was almost home

I said,"Old man you're gonna freeze to death
Let me drive you to the mission"
He said,"Boy if you'd left me alone
Right now I'd be fishin'"

"Just me and you." Lavender says as she motions her band to stop playing then she and Jelly finish the song acapella

I just climbed out of a cottonwood tree
I was runnin' from some honey bees
Drip dryin' in the summer breeze
After jumpin' into Calico creek
I was walkin' down an old dirt road
Past a field of hay that had just been mowed
Man I wish you'd just left me alone
'Cause I was almost home

I was almost home

Man I wish you'd just left me alone
Cause I was almost home

"They sound good together." Katarina says while the crowd cheer as Jelly and Lavender cheer then Jelly Roll walks off stage.

"My next song is called Life Goes On." Lavender says. "And this song I wrote after my kids and Baby Mama were killed."
