Loud, obnoxious knocking at the front door wakes me up from my sleep. I groggily rub my eyes and get up to get it. As I'm moving towards the stairs I hear the door open and a voice speak.
"Oh, my Lord! Please let me seek refuge here. The storm is harsh and the lycans stalk me. I'm lost please!" A woman cries out.
"Why are you out here if you're lost?" Angie asks for Donna.
I peek from the top of the stairs, a glance at the window telling me it's still midnight.
Is she going to let her stay here?
A creak below me brings all of their attention towards me. I can feel Donna's gaze linger on me before she turns back around. I straighten myself out of embarrassment and take a few steps down.
"Fine! But the second it calms down you're out! Out!!" Angie yells, moving out of the way for the woman to come in.
"Oh thank you so much! I'm so very grateful, I'll pay you back in any way!" The woman smiles gratefully.
"Maid! Get down here and help her settle in!"
I roll my eyes and walk down, trying my best to hold my tongue and not argue with Angie. It was a habit that had become more consistent as the days went by. I felt extremely nervous under Donna's watch. A sense of anxiety bubbles in my stomach from the incident from before. I apologized and followed her orders to stay out of the basement, but I still felt guilty.
"Get her new clothes, show her where the bath is. Make sure she's comfortable maid." Angie commands.
"I have a name you know. Y/N." I scowl as I approach them, standing beside the woman.
It's at this moment that I'm the closest I've ever been to Donna. She wore the same veil from before, concealing the face I had seen before. Her height became more apparent to me. As well as her pale hands that looked incredibly soft. A part of me wanted to find out just how soft but I held myself back.
What? Why do I care about that?
"Y/N. Huh." Donna begins walking away silently, with Angie floating behind. As they disappear I turn to the woman.
"First off, follow me, and let's get you cleaned up." I smile and lead her upstairs.
The rest of the house had been unblocked thanks to my banning from the basement. I had more time to clean up and get rid of the boxes.
I led her to another guest room, which was across from what I assumed to be Donna's bedroom since it was always locked. I open it and step through with the woman following behind. The room wasn't that much different than mine. Just a bit more dirty since I hadn't paid much attention to it. I pull spare clothes out of the small wardrobe and hand them to her, now leading her to the bath. I help her unclothe and get inside, gently scrubbing the grime off of her.
"So what's your name? How'd you end up here?" I attempted to start a conversation.
Although it would be nice to have someone else, I can also find out more about where I am. Where this house is, the village...
"I'm Elizabeth, you're Y/N, right? I heard it when you were talking to Angie," Elizabeth explained. "I was searching for herbs when the lycans began invading the village and attacking people. Luckily I was just on the outskirts. So I ran until I got here."
She might have an idea of how to get back to the village.
"Do you think you remember your way back?"
"Yes, it's not that complicated of a path."
I suddenly move to face her, desperation clear in my voice, "Please, help me escape this place. I don't belong here I don't want to be here."
Elizabeth moves away slightly, clearly taken aback. She eyes me carefully and turns her head away.
"It's better to not interfere with things Mother Miranda has decided. I won't defy her." She spoke without looking at me.
"Then at least tell me the way. You won't be defying her then right? You'll just be...informing me! And I need to be informed if I'm going to be a maid right?" I quickly stutter out an excuse, now grabbing her hand.
Elizabeth hesitates before speaking, "Just follow the pathway, don't move away from it just stay on it. Go across the bridge and still stay on. I suggest covering your nose with a cloth if you want to prevent the effect of Lady Donna's flowers."
Flowers? What do the flowers do?
Before I get a chance to ask a knock on the door interrupts us.
"Y/N, Donna would like to see you in the basement," Angie speaks from outside the bathroom.
I tense up, and Elizabeth's eyes widen. I let go of her hand and leaned in close to her.
"Don't do anything else. Finish up here and sleep. Leave first thing in the morning." I warn her and quickly open the door to leave for the basement.
Does Donna know about what we were just talking about? Was Angie spying on us? Maybe through the flowers? No there's no way. But then again with everything else I've seen...
I walk through the hallways and stand in front of the surgical room. I knock slowly and clear my throat.
"Lady Donna, you wanted to..." My voice drifts off as the door opens slowly.
I swallow thickly and step inside, preparing myself for anything that could happen.
A/N:Idk if anyone is actually invested in this but I'm sorry for the late update I get really unmotivated sometimes. I'll try to keep the updates at least weekly.
