Y/N

---

I am in a dilemma, unsure of what my next steps should be. What does someone do after discovering their spouse has lied to them? This question plagues my mind, gnawing at my sanity. Despite my efforts to convince myself that it's nothing, that I am merely overreacting, I can't shake the feeling of betrayal. Every time I close my eyes, I see his face, and the pain cuts deeper. I know that withholding information is just another form of lying, and the realization that he deliberately did not tell me leaves me conflicted and uncertain. My heart aches with every beat, the trust between us now a fragile, shattered thing.

How can I trust him now? How do I know if he isn't hiding yet another thing from me? The shadows of doubt creep into my mind, wrapping around my thoughts like a vice. Does he not realize how his actions affect me? I can't think of any reason for him to buy the company's shares, and all the other shareholders... I suck in a deep breath as another thought hits me, the weight of it almost knocking the air out of my lungs.

I hurriedly sift through my company's data, my fingers trembling as I type. Anxiety coils tightly around my chest, making it hard to breathe. As I delve deeper, the cold, hard truth stares back at me. Taehyung has directly purchased only 10% of the shares. The remaining 55% have been acquired indirectly. A network of other individuals initially bought the shares and then sold them to him. The complexity of this maneuver is staggering, and the implications of his actions start to weigh heavily on my mind. The world spins as I try to grasp the extent of his deception.

I need to talk to him. I need to know why he has done this. A small part of me already knows the reason, whispering insidiously in the back of my mind, but I desperately try to silence it, unwilling to accept what it might mean. The thought of confronting him sends a shiver down my spine, a cold sweat breaking out across my forehead. Anxiety and anger churn inside me like a storm, my emotions warring for control, each one more turbulent than the last.

My heart pounds as I get up, my legs unsteady but my resolve hardening with each step. Just then, my phone rings, shattering the silence. I see it's Sana calling. For a moment, I almost ignore it, my finger hovering over the decline button. But something compels me to pick up the call, a lifeline in the midst of my chaotic thoughts.

"Hello, Sana," I say, trying to keep my emotions at bay, my voice a thin veneer of calm.

"Hello, Y/N. I hope I am not catching you at a bad time," she says in her professional tone, indicating she has not called to chit-chat. Good, because I don't think I can pretend much longer.

"No, it's fine. Just tell me what's the matter?" I say, leaning back against my desk, my grip tightening around the phone.

Sana takes a deep breath. "There was a mix-up with the names in the insurance paperwork. They need official documentation to correct it, and your marriage certificate is necessary for that. So, can you send it to me within two hours? It's urgent."

I sigh, the timing almost too cruel. "What great timing. Okay, I will send it to you as soon as I can."

"Thank you. Take care of yourself, okay?"

"You too, Sana."

With that, I end the call and call my paralegal, my mind racing.

"Hello, Sarah. It's Y/N speaking. I hope I'm not disturbing you."

"Hello, Y/N. Not at all. How can I assist you today?"

"I have an urgent matter. Could you locate my marriage certificate and send it to me?" My voice is steady, but inside, I am crumbling.

"Of course, Y/N. May I inquire about the reason for needing it?"

"The insurance company unexpectedly requires it for some verification purposes. There was a mix-up in names."

"Understood. I'll promptly locate the document and arrange for its delivery to you. Is there anything else you require?"

"That's all for now, Sarah. Thank you for your swift assistance."

"You're welcome, Y/N. I'll handle it immediately. Have a wonderful day."

"You too, Sarah. Goodbye."

I walk over to my laptop, which sits on my desk, and wait for Sarah to send me the documents. It doesn't take long; within five minutes, I receive an email from her. I open the file to cross-check the contents and read through it carefully, just to get yet another shock.

My hands shake as I read the marriage certificate, my eyes widening in disbelief. "Taehyung, what have you done?" I whisper, my voice barely audible in the still room. Why on Earth is our marriage registered in Vatican City, and when did I sign it?

I frantically search my memory, my mind racing through fragmented images and conversations, but I come up with nothing. The room seems to close in on me, the walls pressing inward. My breath comes in shallow gasps, each one more labored than the last, as panic sets in, a cold, unrelenting grip on my chest.

I stare at the certificate as if willing it to disappear, to change, but nothing happens. I grab my phone and quickly google Vatican City marriage laws to know why he would take so much trouble to get it registered there. As I read through the search results, my heart pounds and the reason becomes clear.

Marriages that are registered in Vatican City are considered permanent, with no option for divorce. The commitment is lifelong, rooted deeply in the Catholic Church's teachings. "No divorces," I mutter, the words sinking in. "This is forever."

A wave of anger and confusion surges through me. I drop the certificate on the desk, feeling a mix of betrayal and frustration. Taehyung has made a life-altering decision without my knowledge, binding us in a way I haven't agreed to. I feel trapped, the weight of the commitment pressing down on me as I grapple with the consequences of a decision I didn't fully understand.

How could he? He has been lying to me from day one. Everything was a lie, a facade to lure me in. There was never a contract. We were never going to divorce after two years. He planned it all. But why?
