Serkan was looking at his calendar, "No honey, make the appointment for before I go. I want to see the baby before I leave."
"Hang on," Eda put Serkan on hold so she could talk to the doctor's office, he had to leave for two weeks, and it was going to coincide with one of her OB visits, so Eda was trying to reschedule, "They say that we can do a twelve week visit tomorrow, it's right on the cusp. It will be after their last visit of the day. Can you do that?"
"Baby, you know that I will do whatever I have to so that I can be there. Five?"
"Five. You cannot be late, they are already making an exception for us," Eda warned.
"Promise honey. I'm going to have to meet you there though."
Tuesday afternoon Eda was sitting in Dr. Cenk's office watching the clock as it ticked closer to five, she would go into the appointment with or without Serkan. He wouldn't like it and she knew he wouldn't, but the doctor made an exception for her already. With two minutes to spare her rather sweaty husband burst through the door and glanced at his watch before he smiled at her, he was slightly out of breath.
Eda shook her head and smiled at him, the nurse opened the door at that moment to call them back. Serkan walked to her, took her hands in his and drew her to her feet, "Hello my love, I told you I wouldn't miss it. There was an accident, so I left my car and I ran the last couple of miles. You have to drop me off on the way home so I can pick it up."
She couldn't help the small laugh that escaped, "You are certainly a determined man my love. Come."
Serkan followed Eda back, she got her blood pressure taken, was weighted, and had some blood drawn before she went back to the examination room. Today they were doing another ultrasound and listening for the heartbeat. Dr. Cenk greeted Eda and Serkan before having Eda get on the table so that he could perform the exam. Eda was thankful that today was only an external exam, she knew even if it were an internal that Serkan would have no intention of leaving, he hadn't left for any of the other ones, much to her dismay and Dr. Cenk's.
When he moved the wand across Eda's abdomen this time the baby was much more defined. "When will Eda be able to start feeling the baby move?"
Dr. Cenk looked at Serkan, "Since this is Eda's second pregnancy, she may feel the baby move sooner, as early as thirteen weeks but probably closer to sixteen I would say. Every mother is different. For you, as the father, maybe twenty weeks, so you still have some time to go before you can feel your baby move." Dr. Cenk answered a few more questions for Serkan before leaving them and bidding them a good evening.
Serkan helped Eda to clean the gel off her stomach, "I'm rather disappointed that I have to wait to feel the baby move but I think that the kids are going to want to frame one of these pictures don't you baby?"
"Maybe, they all seem rather excited and Defne thinks it's funny in the evenings when I need to unbutton my pants." Serkan laughed.
"Baby, I love when you unbutton your pants."
He leaned down to kiss her and then kissed the slight rounding of her abdomen. Eda stroked his hair, "Yes, but you need to stop unbuttoning your pants too because we can't keep going to bed before them."
Helping Eda sit he kissed her, "I cannot help if I find my wife to be the sexiest creature on the planet." Serkan wrapped his arm around her as they went to make her next appointment and then headed to Eda's car so she could drop him off at his. Her lovable husband had run almost five miles, not two, just so that he wasn't late for their appointment.
They had a quiet evening that night, letting the kids pick out which ultrasound photo to frame. Even with Serkan leaving the next morning, bedtime schedules were kept, though he handled stories for Kiraz and Ebru. "Daddy, why do you have to go for two weeks? Mama is going to be sad, we're going to be sad," pouted Kiraz.
