The Old War

Kendall is 17 years old and he lives in a world where everyone is born with a gift, some are born with two gifts. Everyone's gift is different depending on your parents. Some are future tellers, some control elements, some have super strength and others were geniuses. The people born with two gifts are called: portmanteaus, there were even legends of people who had three gifts who were called Trepraeditos. After age sixteen you were supposed to lose your gift, but Kendall on the other hand wasn't as fortunate enough to have lost his gift. Since he was 17 this was critical for him, because if you didn't lose your gift by age 18 the government would capture you and use you gift for the government, but nobody knows about this because they cover it up to make it seem like they just disappeared. Kendall's gift was foresight he could see into the future and he was seven days away from his 18th birthday, so his dream was a warning about the government coming after him.

The government saw people freely having their gifts as a threat. Since he still had his gift he was a set target for the government and the other students in school. He was teased by many students in his grade and sometimes his own friends. His friends also tried helping him lose his gift by meeting girls but no luck tried; parties, dances, or dates none of them worked. Kendall secretly wanted to keep his gift because it made him feel special. It was like he was almost cursed because he could have been with the smuttiest girl who could have taken many peoples gifts before, but once she got with him something always happened that messed up his chances of losing his gift.

Kendall use to live with his mom Doretha Strong in Eagleton, but last year he moved up to Alentown to live with his dad. He now lives with his Aunt Amy, grandparents, and father, Kendall Sr., in his Grandparents house. After he's done getting ready for school Kendall grabs his book bag, and heads out to the bus stop at 7:00. Once he gets to the bus stop, he notices out of the corner of his eye an unmarked black SUV.

At a time way before Kendall was born many centuries ago. Centuries ago when people first realized that they had powers. There were two groups of people those who wanted to use their powers for good named: The Gifted and others who wanted to use their gift for evil named: Born Sinners. Both of the leaders were portmanteaus the leader of The Gifted was Prometheus and he was gifted with intelligence, and Water manipulation, the Born Sinners leader was Dominus and he was gifted with foresight and Fire manipulation. Prometheus and Dominus were the best of friends and ran the world together like no one ever before.

Until one day Dominus grew hungry for power so he started plotting against Prometheus, his group, and his beliefs. One day Dominus tells Prometheus to step down from power but he refused since he built this world alongside Dominus, and that's when the groups Born Sinners and The Gifted were crated. But Dominus decided that this world wasn't big enough for two superpower groups so he waged a full fledge war against The Gifted group. The war went on for many months there was a lot of bloodshed and family's lost. The war finally came to an end after the leaders of the Born Sinners and The Gifted battled it out one last time.

Their battle to end the war took place at what was later to be known as The Last Stand. The battle lasted for days but in the end Dominus proved to be victorious. Once the battle was over The Born Sinners proved to be the better gifted and went on to rule over the world and was considered the most powerful gifted human since that day. Dominus created a rule that everyone is to lose their gift by the age of 18 or else they would be killed, or worse be put in a secret military facility where they will be trained to use their gift for what is supposed to be for the better good of the world. Dominus did this in order for him to remain superior over his people and no one would ever rise to power and kick him out as he did to Prometheus so many years ago.
