Y/N: I take it back. This is the strangest thing I've seen all night.

Y/N and Sarah had made their way back to the seance room to talk to Madame Leota. Y/N was a bit creeped out at seeing the disembodied head of an old woman floating in a crystal ball. Sarah looked at her, trying to get the medium to clarify things.

Sarah: Madame Leota, you mentioned something earlier about a curse...

Leota: Yes. This house is enveloped by dark magic. The lost souls who roam these halls have forgotten who they were, doomed to put on a show for their masters' bidding.

Y/N: Gracey mentioned these guys. He sounded scared. What masters are you talking about?

Leota: Even I do not know. They have concealed themselves among us. We all know their wicked cries and torturous strings, but none have come forth with their identity. I have had to cast a protection spell over this very room just to keep them at bay.

Sarah: Is there anything you can tell us? Anything more about the curse?

Leota: One of the benefits of being a medium is my memory. I cannot tell you much, but I can tell you my part of the story.

Y/N and Sarah looked at each other. They nodded in agreement before turning to her.

Y/N: Okay. Show us.

Leota's head seemed to disappear into her ball, enveloped by a thick fog. The ball itself began to form an image, one of the exact same manor they were currently inside. However, this mansion looked pristine and well kept. Leota began narrating her story as the images flashed to show what had happened.

Leota: Over a century ago, when I still retained my mortal form, I was summoned to the Hightower Mansion. For years, rumors of hauntings and mysterious disappearances had surrounded the manor. The owner of the estate called for me, asking if I could exercise the supposed spirits keeping him awake at night. For months, we continued seance after seance, trying to locate the ones behind all this. Some spirits we found to be moving into the manor only to find they couldn't leave. It was then that we discovered that the spirits themselves were being held here by unknown individuals. We tried to locate them, uncovering old records and the history of the establishment. One day, I came close to finding them. But before I could get a look at them, the spirit grabbed me and trapped me inside my own crystal ball.

Inside the ball, an image showed Leota trying to locate the spirit. She eventually spotted one that looked eerily familiar to Y/N. Just then, a ghostly hand reached out of the crystal ball in the image and pulled Leota inside. The image shifted again and Leota's face returned.

Leota: After my abduction, the owner tried for weeks to uncover the truth, but the spirits would not let him leave. They tricked him and locked away his studies. Now, the truth remains hidden.
