Mallory has always embraced the "I'm dying soon whether I like it or not" while Lucinda is all about "living my life to the fullest." Two very different dynamics. "The case of Phineas Gage is one of the great medical curiosities of all time." Mr Clarke says to the science class. "Phineas was a railroad worker in had a nightmarish accident. A large iron rod was driven completely through his head." Mr Clarke draws a line throw a diagram of a skull.
"Phineas miraculously survived. He seemed fine. And physically, yes, he was." Mr Clarke says. "But his injury resulted in a complete change to his personality." Mallory leans back in her chair tiredly. "So much so that his friends started referring to him as 'no longer gage.' At the time, this was known as the American Crowbar case. Although it wasn't a-" Dustin cuts mr Clarke off by barging through the door making Mallory look up.
"I am so sorry, Mr Clarke." Dustin apologises, "Really, I'm so sorry. Please continue with the class. Don't mind me. Really, continue, please. Thanks."
Suddenly, will hands a note to Mallory and she opens it. It reads:
MAL,
MEET US AT THE AV CLUB AT LUNCH. IMPORTANT, LIFE CHANGING.
DUSTIN
Mallory looks up at Dustin and sighs, stuffing the note in her pocket.

The party, plus Max, are looking into Dustin's box thingmajig.
"His name is D'Artagnan."
" you discovered a squid?"
"What? Mal! It's not a fucking squid!"
"Okay! Sorry." Mallory apologises. Dustin then starts to pick up the creature.
"Cute, right?" Dustin asks.
"D'Artagnan?" Mike asks.
"Dart for short," Dustin confirms.
"And he was in your trash?" Max asks sceptically.
"Foraging for food," Dustin confirms.
"Why were you digging through your trash anyway?" Mallory asks.
"I wasn't- I heard him so I went to look. That's it." Dustin says.
"Okay. Just checking, continue." Mallory says, urging him on.
"Thank you. Now, you wanna hold him?" Dustin says to Max.
"No, no." Max protests.
"He doesn't bite." Dustin tries to comfort her.
"I don't want to-" dart is put into her hand regardless, "oh, god, he's slimy!" Max passes it to Lucas.
"Ugh, he's like a living booger," Lucas complains, holding dart, and passing it to Mallory.
"What the fuck? This feels linked to curse shit!" Mallory says, ending up with dart but quickly passing it to Will.
"Ugh, oh, god!" Will complains passing it to the last member, Mike.
