shadow business

Mallory was leaning against a stick with Aurora next to her.

"Stop being a baby and do it already!" Mike says.

"This is beyond gross." Mallory comments.

"This is so disgusting," max says. "Is this really necessary?"

Dustin turns around the corner, "what the hells going on?"

"What do you think? We're looking for dart." Mike say, annoyed.

Two massive bags of trash come flying out of the garbage bin. Lucas's head comes peeking out the top of it. He jumps down the garbage can.

"Well, well, well." Lucas says. "Look who finally decided to show up. After I drew the short straw. Real convenient."

"You stink!" Max comments moving over in between Mallory and Dustin.

"Hi , max." Dustin says, star struck.

"Hi." Max says, confused.

"Where's will?" He questions.

"He'll be here." Mike says, sharing a look with Mallory.

"Are you just gonna stand there?" Lucas asks, not giving him time to think before he throws one of the most wooden sticks towards Dustin. "Or are you gonna help?"

The five people with sticks poke the bags while Lucas just kicks it lightly.

Mike comes back from the phone.

"We need to talk. Av room. Right now." Mike says and everyone gets up , including Aurora and max.

He looks back at the two girls who aren't in the party. " party members only." Auroras smile falters slightly.

"Come on Mike." Dustin says and Mike looks at Mallory with a desperate look.

"We can't risk it. I'm serious. I have something to tell you guys anyway." Mallory says , walking off, not leaving room for argument.

"Will didn't want me to tell anyone but on Halloween night he saw a sort of shadow in the sky." Mike starts off.

"What happened when I wasn't there?" Mallory says.

"A shadow?" Lucas asks. "What kind of shadow?"

"A lot." Mike says looking at Mallory and then looking at Lucas, "I don't know and if will really has true sight.... I mean if he can really see into the upside down, maybe he saw that shadow again yesterday."

"On topic of shadows," Mallory starts off making all three boys look at her, "apparently I have powers."

"What?"

"Why didn't you tell us?"

"What the fuck dude?"

"I didn't tell you because I didn't know. Remember when Lucinda dragged me away yesterday?" They all nod, "she knew it was something supernatural. Which would mean...."

"Your family curse." Mike clocks and Mallory nods.

"And if will saw shadows and my powers are shadows..."

"That could cause you danger."

"You could control it!" Dustin says.

"What?"

"Think about it. Upside down shadows. Whoosh! All gone!" Dustin says with rapid hand movements.

"No. Let's not go down that path." Mallory says looking at Mike again. "Continue."

"Okay, I'll go to wills after school. See what's going on. You guys stay here and find dart." Mike assigns them.

"Dart? What's he gotta do with this?"

"Will heard him in the upside down." Mike starts, "I don't know how yet, but he's gotta be connected to the upside down. He's gotta be. If we find dart, maybe we can solve this thing."

"Maybe we can help will." Mike adds.

Aurora and Mallory are walking together. "You know, I think you guys hiding from me and max is very rude."

Mallory turns to Aurora. "The stuff we're involved in is dangerous. Like you could die." Aurora looks at her.

"What?" Mallory nods.

They end up outside where they see max walk off from Lucas and Lucas smell himself.

"Is your friend insane?" Aurora asks Mallory and Mallory shakes her head.
