Brandon, one of Alexis' regular clients, looked over his arm in awe at Lex's successful job on one of his tattoos once again. Alexis returned her materials to the bin before pulling out a bottle of Lysol wipes.
"Lil Lex done snapped again," Brandon said smiling as his silvery diamond grills began to show. "fo' fifty right?"
The tattoo that Brandon had requested was a portrait of his daughter that he wanted on his stomach. He was covered almost from head to toe with tattoos and Alexis was responsible for about 1/4 of them. He had been coming to her for the last two years and she honestly enjoyed consistent customers like Brandon.
"just four," Alexis said as she smiled in response to his compliment. "Xaia is going to love it." Xaia was Brandon's eight-year-old daughter. Since Brandon had been coming to her, he mentioned he had a daughter when he was twenty-one years old and how she practically ran his life. Her mother died during labor and it was just Brandon and Xaia.
"Such a diva," Brandon said as he began to count out his bills, handing Alexis five crispy one hundred dollar bills. "I love being a girl dad though, wouldn't trade it for none."
"Thank you."
"I can tell you're a great dad, " Alexis began to say as she stood to her feet instantly becoming lightheaded. "You ever thought about having any more?"
Brandon stood up as well as he let out a stretch. "Yeah, whenever I get married."
"I can see myself having a football team, I'm getting old tho."
"You are touching forty ain't you?"Alexis joked.
"Forty is crazy, " Brandon chuckled shaking his head as he exited out of the suite. "Imma see you later Lex, appreciate you."
"See you, Brandon," Alexis smiled as they gave each other a friendly hug before Lex watched Brandon leave out of her shop.
Alexis had been having flu-like symptoms and even though she had been taking cold medicine to prevent it from getting worse, it hadn't got any better. She assumed that she was just about to start her period and she was just beginning to PMS but this time it's lasting longer than usual.
"Sadie," Alexis called out through the shop as she walked into her friend's suite seeing her free drawing on her sketch pad. Sadie looked up at Alexis as she paused the music that was blasting through her AirPods.
Alexis sat on the chair next to Sadie's as she placed her head on her shoulder, "Am I hot?"
Sadie began to grow silent before she spoke. "I don't know if people use the term hot anymore but yes Lex you are beautiful."
Alexis picked her head up as she stale faced her friend before laughing, "Girl, I'm talking about temperature-wise."
Sadie looked over at Alexis before laughing and reaching out her palm to lay it on Alexis' forehead. You know black people...
