Peyton Molina. The oldest Molina sibling. The older sister of Carlos and Julie Molina. Daughter of Ray and Rose Molina.
That's how she is known to everyone. But as of a year ago when Rose Molina passed away from cancer some things have changed.
Peyton is known as Julie's older sister in name only. Why? Because once Rose died Julie shut out pretty much everyone.
Peyton. Carrie. All of her other friends. All except for Flynn, Ray and Carlos.
Now you may be wondering? Why shut only Peyton out? Shouldn't Julie want to keep her family close now that her mom is gone? But Julie did the opposite. Why?
And the answer is Peyton has no idea. She has tried over and over to try and talk to Julie but it never works.
So, at one point, Peyton gave up for the time being and let Julie have some space. Peyton decided for now to just move on with her life instead of waiting around for Julie to finally acknowledge her.
She and Carrie became popular and made a band called Dirty Candy, that they were co leads of. Peyton has also been dating Nick Adams, the captain of the lacrosse team (I'm making him the captain), for the past few years and they are still going strong.
She has also put a lot of time and effort into school, specifically her arts classes and worked hard to be the best she could be.
Somewhere down the line, she tried to put Julie out of her mind. Kinda difficult because they live together but she managed to avoid her as much as possible.
She spends most of her time at Carrie's or Nick's and sometimes at one of her other friends' houses but more often than not you'll find her at Carrie's or Nick's.
Now it's a year since Rose died and not much has changed.
Julie and Peyton still don't talk unless it's trading insults back and forth while Carrie and Flynn do the same.
Peyton would never admit it to Julie, but the things Julie says to her really hurt.
Sure, Peyton also gives back as good as she gets. But the difference is Peyton's "insults" aren't really that mean.
She mainly gives subtle digs about how Julie abandoned her. And when Carrie isn't around she gets on Julie about the fact that she keeps trying to force Peyton to drop Carrie as a friend.
On the other hand Julie is actually insulting Peyton and Flynn does too. The part that hurts the most is when Flynn says something really mean about Peyton, Julie says nothing. When she does talk though, she either: agrees with her, says something else insulting or laughs.
I mean sure Peyton and Carrie say some meanish things, but they are mostly hurt and bitter because Julie dropped them all of a sudden with no explanation but kept Flynn around.
Now back to the story, it's a year later and Carrie, Nick and Peyton are seniors, while Julie and Flynn are juniors.
Julie is about to be kicked out of the music program at Los Feliz high school, unless she can sing or at the very least play some form of music.
Julie hasn't sang or played a single note since Rose Molina, her mom, passed away just over a year ago.
No one could figure out why. I mean sure she was grieving, but why wouldn't she want to continue singing and playing music as a way to honor her memory?
But that doesn't seem to be the case. Julie seems to be doing the exact opposite; she has given up practically everything that reminds her of her mom.
She hasn't gone into the studio, she has her mom's clothes locked away in a chest, and the only thing she has out is a single picture of her mom and her. Coincidentally this is one of the few pictures Peyton isn't in. And if the fact that this is the picture Julie decided to keep out doesn't tell you anything, then by the end of this book you'll definitely figure it out.
Now Peyton on the other hand, has gone into the studio and played the instruments and sometimes hangs out in there if she wants to be away from Julie but can't go anywhere else. She also doesn't keep her portion of her mom's clothes hidden away. She keeps them out and wears them sometimes too.
As far as pictures go she has tons of them strewn all across her walls. She has pictures of her family (including Julie for now), pictures of her friends and boyfriend, as well as just pictures of her doing things she loves. And most importantly she has tons of pictures of her mom.
Now that you know some of the background stuff let's dive into the story.
Let's set the scene, it's the first day of school, the beginning of September at Los Feliz high school. And our story starts in the hallways of said school with Julie going to her locker trying to stay as hidden as possible.
Let's begin.
A/N: Ok so that's the prologue for sisters divided. let me know your thoughts if you want. I'm going to try to write the next chapter soon. Next I'm uploading my rewritten prologue for my Harry Potter book on ao3. I'm also almost done editing the prologue for together through it all and I'm working on the second part for girl meets Maya's mother. I had to go back and reread since I haven't written that book in a while. I'll put the rest of the together through it all stuff (besides the prologue) up either today or by Sunday. I'm working on the prologue for payback for a broken heart too. I'll update y'all on my profile with timings for uploads but for now my uploads will be sporadic until I write enough ahead on my books.
Until next time
