Thyrra was born a few minutes earlier than Eilin. The twin sisters were close as one would expect twins would be. They were different in terms of personality though. Thyrra was studious, quiet, serious, ambitious, and did everything excellently. While Eilin was carefree, stubborn, with infectious laugh and a rebel-at-heart. Thyrra had always had Eilin's back, even when Eilin got herself into a lot of trouble with their strict parents.
However their closeness started to crack when Eilin, when she was 18, was chosen by the dragons to be the dragon healer.
Ambitious Thyrra who had worked hard to win affection of the dragons found it unfair. She felt that she was the one who had studied, who had taken her role seriously as a member of House of Evara, and she was the one who was supposed to be chosen, not her stubborn and rebellious younger sister Eilin.
Eilin tried to make sure Thyrra know how much she meant to her and would go to Thyrra frequently for advice as she prepared herself to be a dragon healer.
But along came Bragan.
It was Bragan that broke all the connection between the sisters.
Thyrra fell in love with Bragan, but Bragan had always loved Eilin, and Eilin loved Bragan.
When Eilin eloped with Bragan, Thyrra turned raging mad. She was beyond furious. She could never forgive Eilin—Eilin was the dragon healer, a role she had so coveted and desired, and now Eilin snatched away the only man she had ever loved, Bragan. Thyrra felt betrayed and destroyed by her own twin sister.
In her dark rage, she vowed she would destroy Eilin, thus she secretly surrendered herself to be a servant of Erebus, the dark demon god of the underworld.
Erebus started changing Thyrra by teaching her dark sorcery.
Thyrra stayed quiet in the shadow as Eilin's life with Bragan unfolded and destroyed. She also stayed quiet when Alanna was taken away, and the world passed her by as she hid herself in a tower of rocks in a forest far away from her home. Erebus made sure she was isolated, and the darkness within Thyrra grew stronger and stronger as years went by.
Thyrra never spoke to anyone, did not want to have contact with anyone, especially with Eilin who she would always see as her enemy, the destroyer of her life and dreams.
A few months ago, Thyrra, with help from the dark forces of Erebus, finally became strong enough to stage a shocking coup of the throne. It was shocking because she had stayed so quiet behind the shadow that noone really thought of her anymore.
Her dark power had grown to be so great that it could prolong winter and make it colder than normal. Erebus' forces, legions of snake-faced human-bodied monsters sprung up from the deep abyss and war broke between the forces of Alathyr and the forces of Thyrra and Erebus.
A bloody battle flared for days, the dragons fought for Alathyr, and King Tristan rode Anthor to fight the winged demons that were also sent by Erebus. However, Alathyr forces had to admit defeat when fatalities mounted among civilians, and the dragons were wounded.
King Tristan decided to ask the dragons to bring them all, the palace officials, the soldiers, and the civilians that they could gather to the enchanted dragons' lair.
The dragons flew in front of them, and the King and the rest would follow them. The enemy forces who had tried to chase them would be lost in the forest and died because they could not get out.
It was then that the human beings realized that Knyra—the waterfall that people of Alathyr knew existed but noone knew where it was—was actually the gate to the dragons' lair.
Strangely, after they got into the massive catacombs like structure, the memory of how to get to the dragons' lair could only be remembered by the king, Tristan. The dragons through their telepathy had ensured that the secred hideout was only known and be traced by one person, the reigning king of Alathyr. That was why the king, who now led a band of rebels to try to always shake Alathyr's defense, had to always lead his soldiers out in the world above the catacombs. Only he knew how to bring them all back to the dragons' lair again.
