A/N: Before we get into all of this, I just want to let everyone know that I created a "work" on my page that is titled "MDD Bonus Chapters." It's the place where you can comment with any ideas for the characters in this story, and I'll write it! Scenes from a different person's perspective, a cute head canon, a smutty one-shot, you name it! I'll write it! 🥰

Gwendolyn

Sleep was something that grabbed and released me constantly. I felt like an innocent worm being snatched by a bird, only to be dropped a few moments later.

A knock on the door was what woke us up. Caspian had shot up in bed and shoved me behind him, almost like whoever had made their presence known outside the door had an evil plot to steal me from his grasp.

I had rubbed his back and told him that they were just waking us up, and that it was probably just Henry or Leo. He had sighed harshly and apologized, before scrubbing his face with his hands and standing up from the bed.

I'd felt bad that he assumed he needed to apologize for something like that, something as trivial as being startled by a knock on the door, but I figured I would save that conversation for another day.

Roman had been slower to wake, and by the time he was sitting up in bed, Caspian had already gotten dressed and brushed his teeth. But I didn't mind; it gave me more time to snuggle into Roman's chest before facing the reality of what was going to happen today.

I was getting my Atlas back.

And it had been way too long since I'd seen him. I missed him so much. It felt like every second he was gone, more and more of my chest caved in. Like someone was carving mercilessly into my heart and soul.

But no longer. Today was the day. I was getting my Atlas back. And I would go through anyone to do it.

At some point, Caspian had lifted me from Roman's arms and set me on the ground, telling me to get ready. So I slipped on a bulletproof vest, a new change of clothes, and brushed my teeth, before heading out to the kitchen in an attempt to get some sustenance. Roman was close behind me. A few minutes after I sat down at the island, I saw Roman's tall, lean form making its way through the hall.

I had to admit, even though I'd seen him sleeping and seen him tired, something about his freshly-awoken face made my cheeks flush. If I forgot the fact that Atlas was still missing, and that we were about to set out to retrieve him, then it almost felt like this would be a normal morning for us.

I imagined our future, where Caspian would wake up first, go on a run, and finish all of his work before I was even awake. I imagined waking up in Roman and Atlas's arms. I wondered about whether Atlas was an early bird or a night owl. It was clear to me that Caspian was probably an early bird. So quick to get up and begin functioning, and truthfully, I was envious.

To put it simply, mornings weren't for me. Caspian was a lucky duck.

I was shaken out of my endless imagination when I felt Roman press a kiss to my head and slide a bowl of oatmeal in front of me. It had blueberries and maple syrup and looked delicious.

"Eat up, sweetheart. I would rather you not pass out while trying to get Atlas back, my love," he said. I looked up into his crystal blue eyes, and he pecked my forehead before turning and making himself a bowl. I looked back at my oatmeal, picked up the spoon, and took bite after bite after bite. Not too long after I began eating, Roman took a seat next to me.

I flinched when Caspian burst into the kitchen, sweat gleaming on his face.

He jogged over to us and smiled when he saw me eating my oatmeal. "Look at you, eating! Such a good girl!"
