'Fight'. Such a dangerous word, yet so beautiful. Some fights end in peace, and taking the others call, while some end in heartbreak, a feeling to never befall.
The battle had begun. Chastity Angel's flew their way down from the Heaven's, like missiles with an intended target to hit. Once the Prince caught sight of the Angel's holy wings, he gave the order for his men to go forth into battle. The royal family were the Angel's main targets, and so each sibling decided to scatter themselves across the battlefield.
Within minutes blood was shed as Angels and Demons alike were cut, impaled, and some even torn apart. The siblings each did a mix of fighting as well as healing their fallen soldiers, due to being Demons of Lust, the royals were able to heal external wounds on their own kind. For Jace and Eclipse, fighting brutally came naturally to them, they each leapt around the battlefield and struck Angels down without a care in the world. Eclipse's cruel and sadistic laughter could even be heard echoing through the battle as she found a sick level of enjoyment in tearing Angels apart.
Those more gentle souls, such as Harriet and Josephine, focused more on healing the fallen rather than fighting themselves. Luna focused himself on protecting the two as they healed, knocking down any Angels that tried to attack the Princesses whilst they were stationary. While not usually a violent soul, Luna could be brutal when it came to protecting his family.
Already, within about 20 minutes of battle, body parts and severed wings were displayed throughout the battlegrounds, from both Angels and Demons. While separated, the Ezerath siblings made an attempt to at least remain within each other's line of sight in case of an emergency. Despite their best efforts thus far, Jace looked frantically around the battlefield and noticed that his men were falling fast, the Angels were winning.
In a moment of panic and slight desperation, Jace turned to his siblings.
"Guys, focus on taking down the Angels! Only heal small and quick injuries, we can't afford things like broken bones, leave them! We need to focus on taking out numbers!"
He then turned to Eclipse
"Eclipse! Be less brutal, more quick! We need numbers, not results!"
"On it!"
Eclipse nodded before kicking an Angel in the face then thrusting the blade of her sword into their chest. She then flung the body upwards and knocked down a few Angels who were flying.
The siblings weren't fighting without their own injuries, though.
Eclipse had an arrow in her shoulder and a cut torso.
Harriet had an arrow in her back and a cut cheek.
Jace had a broken rib and a bloodied nose.
Luna had a cut narrowly close to his wing, and a potentially broken arm.
Josephine had a gash on her neck and an arrow in her tail.
Each of these injuries were quickly healing themselves over time however, due to the sibling's need to constantly move, the healing process was slower than normal and so the injuries were never healed fully by the time a new one arose. Every so often, a screech of pain was heard from a demon who got injured. Unlike Demons, the Angels just screamed like normal humans would. If the injuries that were sustained were quick, then Harriet or Josephine rushed down swiftly to heal them and get them back to battle.
Due to Jace's previous order about needing to kill rather than heal, the siblings were each split up further apart from each other, meaning neither Harriet nor Josephine were protected by Luna anymore. Any heals they took on from this point were their own choice, and their own risk.
Josephine noticed a demon who was downed. They had a rather large gash on their stomach. She flew down and knelt beside them, using her magic to heal them. Because she had to stay alert, however, Josephine was looking around her as she healed. She looked up to the sky to check on how her siblings were doing, fighting those in the air.
As she did this, she felt hot blood running down her neck. The demon who she was healing shrieked in horror as they saw what happened. Josephine tried to look down to see what had happened, but something was stopping her, almost like she couldn't look down. Before she could see anything, or even process what had happened, she blacked out and fell sideways onto the ground, the blood began to pool underneath her.
Harriet heard the shriek and looked down. She noticed what had happened to Josephine and immediately landed beside her.
"Jo? Josephine!"
She yelled in a panic.
She saw the injury and froze. What Harriet saw when she looked down, was a spear lodged in Josephine's throat. When Josephine had looked up, an Angel threw a spear and hit her in the neck at full force. Harriet felt bloody tears begin to pool in her eyes, her blood became as hot as fire with a blinding rage and sorrow.
Harriet quickly and carefully picked Josephine up and used a spell to teleport her to a hospital for immediate treatment. Once Josephine was gone from her arms, Harriet clenched her fists so hard that her own nails broke the skin on her palm.
This was the moment that Harriet Ezerath broke.
Her once beautiful pink eyes had now darkened to a deep crimson red, similar to the blood from Josephine's throat. Her once full heart pupils had now shattered into pieces. Her head shot up to the Angel who shot Josephine, the Angel who was, stupidly enough, still stood in the same place as he was when he threw the spear.
Without a second thought, Harriet rushed to the Angel, grabbed him by the hair, and thrust his neck down into her knee as she pushed it up. The bone from his neck broke through the skin and cracked, which was all clear in Harriet's vision, blood splattered all over the place as the Angel perished almost immediately. Harriet then flung this Angel's body forward and knocked over another Angel using it.
A new sense of anger and anxiety took over Harriet's head as she now worried if Josephine was even alive.
"Josephine's down! We're fighting for her now!"
Harriet called to her siblings who all looked as shocked and devastated as she was.
"Is she okay?"
Jace yelled as he kicked an Angel
"I don't know! She was impaled! Just fucking fight!"
She called before pushing herself off her feet and soaring upwards into the air. Harriet then proceeded to massacre almost every Angel in the sky, she didn't care about her own increasing number of injuries as she did this.
As the siblings each now fought now without Josephine's help, Josephine herself was currently still unconscious, if anything she was barely alive. She was surrounded by doctors and medical staff all trying to save her. Once Josephine was sedated and in no pain from the drugs, the spear was very slowly and very carefully removed from her throat. After its removal, the doctors took a look at the damage on the interior of Josephine's neck.
Her vocal cords had been completely split, with no way to salvage them. The most the team could do was make sure that the split cords didn't cause any trouble or infection, so they got to work with sealing them off. Thankfully, the spear hadn't fully decapitated the poor girl, and just the front of her neck was injured.
Once Josephine's throat was sorted on the interior, which took at least an hour in itself, her throat was sewn back up to keep her head attached and stable. After around three hours of straight treatment, and an entire medical team surrounding her, Josephine was finally somewhat well, and left to rest. She was hooked up to a few drips, one for sedation, and one for blood replenishing. Josephine remained asleep, however this was due to her sedation now rather than the blood loss.
These several hours that Josephine was treated for, her siblings were still out fighting tooth and nail for their lives, and for their home. The fear that they may have lost Josephine ignited something in each of them, a burning fury that helped them to become ruthless and stone cold. This proved to be working as the sibling's change of heart inspired their soldiers to do the same.
After a gruelling battle that cost The Ezerath Family one of their own, and thousands of innocent soldiers, they came out victorious. Each sibling was battered and bruised, every one of them bleeding from at least one if not multiple wounds. While the others focused on their own health, Harriet's main concern was Josephine.
"Attention everyone! The battle is over, we won! Everyone who can still walk, get yourselves to a hospital! Bring everyone who you think could have a chance at survival with you, and leave the dead!"
Jace called to the soldiers
All four siblings got themselves to a nearby hospital as soon as they could, assisting those they passed on their way. As the siblings were royalty, they were all obviously of priority and so got seen immediately. Thankfully, there were plenty of medical staff on hand as Leo had prepared for this battle years in advance when he first heard of the potential attack.
The siblings had each lost a significant amount of blood. The arrows were removed from each of them and the wounds stitched up. Luckily, the sibling's magic was able to work on them as well as the doctors, so their injuries healed up faster than normal demons. Due to the blood loss, all of them were hooked up to a drip to replenish the lost blood, and due to the physical injuries such as the arrows and slashes, the siblings were also laid in rooms to rest for a little while.
However, due to the severity of her injury, Josephine was in an intensive care ward and so she was separated from her siblings.
