"Jeshurun, I appreciate your concern, but the size of my family is not your decision to make," Inari said, her voice calm but firm. "Joe and I are thrilled to be welcoming two more children, and we will make the choices that are right for us, not based on anyone else's opinion."
Doralis, sensing the impending conflict, attempted to interject, but Inari raised a hand to silence her. "And Doralis, I know you and I have had our differences, but I had hoped we could move past that. This is a joyous time for me, and I'd appreciate it if you both could be supportive, rather than trying to impose your own beliefs and agendas on my life."
The air grew thick with tension as Jeshurun and Doralis exchanged sheepish glances, their faces flushed with embarrassment.
Inari, however, remained steadfast, her resolve unwavering. She knew that she couldn't control the opinions and judgments of others, but she could control how she responded to them.
As the lunch came to a close, Inari and Isla bid farewell to Jeshurun and Doralis, the latter offering a halfhearted apology.
