Next morning

Wreny's side

You are sitting at the edge of the window, watching the waltz of the waves outside.

The Sun rises slowly above the horizon, and its light warms your skin.

You can barely feel it.

You barely feel anything since that day.

You burned his body and scattered the remains in the water, where he loved being the most.

You were at the edge of your sanity during the funeral, but you remember that Ace supported you to stay standing, his sister by his side as always since she woke up.

Eustass stood in silence.

Bepo was with Law, and as much as he wanted to be there for you too, you asked him to stay with his Captain because you couldn't.

You couldn't face him, and an invisible, opaque wall separated him from you, which didn't let through any emotion or act you could have tried.

Law didn't speak and didn't answer.

His golden eyes were caught by something that nobody else could see, and that notion never let him go. He looked like he wasn't part of this world anymore.

You couldn't stand it, and you locked yourself away as soon as you set sail.

You know you should be trying and fighting to bring him back, but you are terrified that he would hate seeing you after what he did to keep you alive.

The heartbeat is loud in the thorough silence of the lonely room, and each pulse makes you feel uneasy and broken.

You wish you could tear it out of yourself, but that would disgrace the sacrifice they both made for you.

You still want to live, more than anything, but don't know how to do that anymore.

Only watching the sea helps, since it carries Shiro's memory. Your pain fades as you wonder at the endless, moving reflection of the sky.

But you feel like you are chained down by your own thoughts, and they would rather let you starve to death than let you go to your loved ones.

Forgive me.

A few knocks sound on the door and you thrill as you look there.

Ace must have brought food and water again.

You don't think you have enough strength or patience left to send him away once more.

He will leave eventually, as he always did.

He tries his best, but what is left of Three needs him more than ever. When you last saw them, he was the only one she trusted.

But your eyes widen when a gentle voice sounds outside.

"Ace said you have to eat something!" she shouts. "I brought you food, so open up!"

You blink in disbelief.

"He said I must give this to you," she continues. "So I can't leave until you feel better."

You breathe out slowly and drop your head back to your knees as you huddle yourself up.

A few minutes pass, but you still see the shadow of her feet by the entrance.

She will go. She has many better things to do than nagging me.

The door is locked, and-

You fall back when the massive oak door flies through the place.

You turn around frightenedly, seeing Three catching the teapot she almost dropped.
