Ace's side

The young man's fist clenches over the grass as he looks at Killer, who is sitting next to him.

Yesterday, he was finally in the state to come outside, and he is getting better hour by hour.

"So you will stay here?" asks Ace, turning to the blonde.

Killer nods, lost in thoughts.

"We were defeated, and many of us are gone," he answers. "Kid doesn't care about the One Piece since everything that happened to Three. For a while, we will rest."

He laughs roughly from the memories of Wano, but he is not ashamed of it anymore.

Once, she told him it would be less painful if he wasn't.

"Kid told me he won't leave her side," he continues, his gloved fingers grazing his throat. "He is determined to make her whole again, little by little, even if it takes years."

And when Ace smiles at this warmly, Killer decides it's time to tell him something else.

He shared with them that Three sent him back before she left.

But for Ace, there is more, which he didn't want to put upon her shoulder because of how much she already has to face.

And the Portgas D. Ace looks at him with doubt when Killer mentions the name of another.

"So you believe our father healed her?" asks the Pirate King's son silently, watching his sister playing in the sand by the shore.

Eustass Kid smiles as he watches her, and sends small robots to aid her in building the castle, while some of them are wandering the edge of the sea like brave little soldiers, carrying only the prettiest shells back to her.

She is laughing loudly and honestly, and Kid tries to hide his blushing cheeks by turning away towards the horizon.

"I am certain," nods Killer. "I saw it in one of her dreams. There were always legends of swords that held the soul of their wielder after their passing."

The blond man smiles at her from the distance.

"Gol D. Roger locked away his life into his blade on purpose," he continues. "So when the time arrived, it could bring back her daughter from the dead. It also explains why Wreny always found it more powerful than any other katana, cursed or not. She couldn't know, but she sensed it by her Devil Fruit."

Ace turns his gray eyes to Wreny, Law, and Bepo, walking by the waves.

He shakes his head with a mild smile when the mink takes the other two over his shoulders and runs into the sea despite his Captain's loud protesting.

"But his sacrifice came with a price, too," says Killer. "He fell ill, and his time to live was cut short. Then, his death brought a new era upon the world."

Ace takes a deep breath and closes his eyes.

"I hated that man in my whole life, for abandoning our mother when she needed him the most," he whispers. "But in the end, they both gave up everything for the two of us."

He smiles softly and looks at Three again.

"They both died without regrets," he says. "And we will live the same way."
