A grave mistake

Pain coursed through Percy's body. Not the pain he was used to. This one was unfamiliar. A painful gut feeling screamed inside him reminding him that this was to be expected.

"Tell me this is mist at work. This is not real. TELL ME!" Percy shouted at Nico. He did not heed the weak voice in his mind that told him it was not Nico's fault. Nico did not speak, but his silence was louder than any word could be.

In front of Percy was lying dead his mother. Sally Jackson. Blood surrounded her body as it oozed out from her body. It was still flowing out, so whoever did this could not have gone far.

Percy's hands stiffened. A rage, something he had been holding for far too long, threatened to take over him.

Somebody had killed his mother. And they had to pay for it.

"You need to calm down Percy. Calm down." Nico said soothingly. Annabeth tried to grab Percy's arm to comfort him, but she was just as much shaken as Percy and Nico. She found it hard to believe her eyes as well. Who could hurt someone as sweet and kind as Sally? Annabeth wanted to rip out their guts and feed them to them. But she knew she needed to control Percy right now, for the sake of all the people living in New York City.

Nico had felt the death of someone he knew, just about 10 minutes ago. Immediately he went to the underworld to check it out and it surprised the heck out of him to know that Sally Jackson, the greatest mortal in Earth, had died. Not died, she had been murdered brutally. Not by a monster, but by a demigod or god. Nico didn't know who did it, but all he knew was that they would pay for it, even if it was Zeus himself.

For now, all that scared Nico was the amount of energy in Percy right now. If he let that energy loose, the entire state of New York would be wiped from the face of Earth. That would be as strong as a Hydrogen bomb and Nico and Annabeth were right in the center of the nuclear site. More than himself, Nico worried about Annabeth. While he could shadow travel immediately, carrying two people would take more time which would kill them.

"I need to know who did this." Percy said in a dangerously calm voice.

"You need to calm down Percy." Nico said, reading himself to contain a nuclear blast.

Percy ignored Nico and ran down the apartment. Nico sighed before deciding to follow him. Annabeth ran behind him as well. Nico had not even told Percy about Paul yet. Paul was lying dead on the next room along with Estelle.

Percy ran down the street, frantic and searching for any clue leading to anything. He could find a trail of divine energy heading towards the empire state building. Percy followed it, running like a madmen with blood filled eyes.

He had given in to his inner primal energy and nothing could stop him then. It was a blood lust that filled him, which suppressed his rational thinking, and even his fatal flaw.

Annabeth kept running behind Percy shouting out to him, trying to stop him. But it was to no avail. She could feel the ground shaking underneath her feet.

After all it was Percy, son of Poseidon the Earthshaker.

Soon enough Percy met the person who was responsible for the death of Sally, and was about to be the reason of the death of a few million people.

And it was none other than Atlas.

No idea who was holding the Earth while Atlas was here, but something happened and Atlas was free, and the first thing he decided to do was to kill Percy's parents and baby sister.

"Hey boy, I guess you saw what I did." Atlas said. He was sipping from his cup of hot coffee, sitting on a chair outside a Starbucks cafe. Nico and Annabeth came to a stop right behind Percy with their weapons drawn. Percy did not even take out Riptide.
