Meganta's drug lords were worried. The leader of the notorious Red Eye Gang, Evans, had been murdered, not only himself but his elite security detail. Rumours and accusations were flying about who had killed him, but one thing was for sure: there was panic amongst the five trusted lieutenants who feared they would be next.
"Evans is dead!" said the voice on the phone
"What do you mean?"
"He's gone, finito, dead as a corpse!"
"Who?"
"Rumour is special ops team?"
"It's a rumour?"
"They took out the security as well. There are no survivors!"
"Then how do we know this happened?"
The other smartphones pinged with a notification, and a photo popped up. It was of Evans, the leader of the Red Eye Gang dead, along with his security detail, all dead and piled together.
"C.S.A.* don't do that, nor do the cops."
"Somebody is fucking with us!"
"We need to meet, all of us."
"Who's top dog?"
"First things first, business as usual, then we'll get rid of the threat, seek it and destroy. Then we select the new leader."
All of the Lieutenants agreed.
The Red Eye Gang covered Meganta with its impressive supply & demand drug network running all through the City and out towards the suburbs. Over the years, other gangs either amalgamated into the Red Eye Gang or were destroyed and the gangs that remained focused on petty crime paid for that privilege. It was an area of no interest to the Red Eye Gang, with too small proceeds for them to worry about. Temporarily, Razor would be calling the shots; he was Evans's most trusted lieutenant, so they all agreed, at least until they found Evans's killer. For now, the order was not to take any risks and increase their security detail; typically, they would have one with them at all times, but for now, this would increase to seven. Four were in a car that would follow them everywhere, and three were with the lieutenant. Each lieutenant looked after a particular district. Razor covered the central.
Razor had some business to attend to. He told his driver to enter the multi-storey car park, where on the top floor, they would meet a potential new supplier of cheaper, dirtier and more dangerous drugs. It was likely more people would die from these drugs, more so than usual, but their profits would be more significant, something the Red Eye Gang did care about.
The meeting itself didn't last too long, enough for a sample to be tested with a chemical kit and then quick negotiations. They didn't take too long; the Red Eye Gang always got the price they wanted, and suppliers were keen to be loyal and not stupid enough to go up against the might of the gang. The suppliers left first. It was protocol. The Red Eye Gang had put a tracker on the supplier's vehicle to ensure it left the area; no chances would be taken after what happened to Evans. The support SUV-the fire-team, would follow behind Razor's SUV, all of the security detail were ex-military mercenary's, well-trained guns for hire. The SUVs were in radio contact with each other and also tracked; each security officer carried a side arm and a machine gun, with backup weapons and ammunition also carried.
They started to move off.
"The tracker has stopped!"
"What do you mean stopped? Where are they?"
"Stopped on the third floor, near the lifts."
"That's the other side to the exit. I don't like this."
