Dear diary, from today I am going to be sharing my experiences of this winter with you so that I can relive those moments again. It all started when the government authorities announced an upcoming snowstorm. All the schools, colleges, and workplaces are closed, however, the work is now done online so that we can be productive while enjoying times with our families. The government has also announced that everyone shall be supplied with essentials at a marked location in every area of the city. Upon hearing this news, I started to pack my stuff back for home. I am a college student and now I am going to spend this winter with my family. Fast forward to reaching my home, I entered shivering due to the cold weather. It's been months since I have seen my family because of college semesters but it doesn't feel like that. Mom brought me a warm cup of coffee and I enjoyed it while sitting in the living room where the gentle sounds of the heater reside. I told them about my college life. Within an hour, my elder brother, who was in an outstation job, also entered the home. My dad and younger sister went out to gather some essentials, like warm blankets, an efficient heater, gloves, caps, and some packed and canned food like cereals, pulses, sauces, spice mix, seasoning, chips, pasta, noodles and flour. The moment me and my bro started to unpack, Dad and my sis returned home with bags of supplies. The 3 of us were astonished to see how much shopping they did. Dad told us about the chaotic market situation. The rush for supplies was like a war and every man was for himself. Once we had unpacked everything, we all settled in the living room. Sis brought some warm blankets and pillows to create a cosy environment. We can hear the wind howl like a beast. It is a relief knowing that no one is spending his day or night on the streets, whether human or animal, as all are provided shelter. This is another sign that humanity still exists. After chatting for some time, I suggested that we should play some games to spend time. Since it is evening, there is no work to do. We set up the table and played many games like business, cards, uno, and some non-board games like charades, and atlas. The joy of the games made us forget about the deadly weather outside. There is no going outside unless you want to freeze to death. we played for so long that we lost track of time. Mom decided that since she had no time to cook, we would have instant noodles. The aroma of the spice mix of noodles left our stomachs growling. Once prepared, we all enjoyed the warm noodles together while keeping the blankets on. Each slurp of noodles felt like eating from starting. The spices altogether felt like a wrestling match in your mouth. Once finished we decided to head back to our rooms, mom and Dad sleep together while me and my siblings sleep together. We wore our night dresses and hibernated in the warm blankets that had been welcoming all of us. The heater was the only friend that came to rescue in this snowstorm. We can see and hear the snow falling. My bro told us that in the morning, everything would be covered in white dust. Our beds were so warm that we didn't dare to get up even to do the small and basic things, whether going to the washroom or drinking water. Slowly we all drifted to sleep.
