We are all the same

Yaman and Rüya were sitting on Yaman's bed as Rüya had insisted on not waking up Asi And Cesur in the middle of the night.

Yaman's head was spinning. Rüya had told him that all of this was caused by her father. She had only mentioned her father in passing before and even thinking about such a father made Yaman's blood boil.

He wanted to punch him in the face once for every bruise on Rüya's arms.

"Okay, beautiful, please tell me what happened, I'm about to lose my mind." Yaman said, trying to keep his temper in control. Rüya's eyes were still filled with tears and she was trying to smooth her hair in order.

"I never told you about my father because he rarely is in my life. He has been an alcoholic his whole life, going in and out of rehab programs, hospitals and hostels. I hadn't seen him in 1,5 years before the night at the factory. When I got to the house, he was there." Rüya started, trying to get the story out without crying.

"Did he beat you every day? Why didn't you tell me?" Yaman pleaded.

"No, no! When I arrived to the house, he was there, drunk out of his mind. I hate staying at the house when he is there. This time mom wasn't home either, so I didn't want to stay there. But I didn't have the heart to not look after him either." Rüya continued. Yaman just nodded, getting a general understanding of the situation.

"Then, two days ago he started acting very out of sorts. I stayed home because I was afraid something would happen to him while he is like this. I think he has some kind of mental problem too. He just wasn't himself! That was the first time he got violent with me. He talked to me as if I was mother, dragged me around and slapped me. He has never done this before, so it's okay though." Rüya said, looking into Yaman's eyes with her teary eyes.

Yaman was getting angry again. This man who was supposed to love and protect her the most was treating Rüya like this? Not on my watch

"Then today when I got home he was sleeping. I thought the worst was over, but at midnight he came to my room and..." Rüya continued, tears bursting out of her eyes again. Yaman pulls Rüya into his arms and soothes her back.

"Then he started pulling me again, dragging me downstairs. He shouted at me like I was mom! I was so scared Yaman, I thought he was going to kill me this time! I didn't know what to do, thankfully my phone was near by. I grabbed it, and just ran out. I didn't know what to do, so I decided to come here." Rüya sobbed, recalling the events.

"Shhh... It's okay. Thank you for telling me Rüya. You did right by coming here. I just wish you had called me sooner, I would have picked you up. Nobody bothered you on the street, right?" Yaman asked in a soothing voice. He felt Rüya shaking her head.

"Okay, good. You can always call me, no matter what, okay?" Yaman whispered to her. Rüya clung to him and was able to relax more now. Yaman decided to lay her down so that she could get some sleep. Carefully he lowered their bodies on the mattress. Now they were laying down, facing each other. There were still tears streaming down Rüya's face.

"You know, Yaman... He wasn't always like this. He used to be my hero when I was little. We would go on adventures and have fun... I don't know from which point on everything started going wrong. You know, he almost killed me when I was a child. He had drunk alcohol... This was one of the first times when he really did it. Then he took me into his car and drove so fast, so recklessly. I cried for him to stop. He didn't. We hit something and the car turned around so many times. I was hospitalized for months and he was sent to rehab. He was never the same after that..."

Yaman listened to the story, feeling helpless. That man angered him more than anything at this moment. He was afraid if he saw him, he might just snap.

"I think he is a good person, really. He didn't mean to hurt me. I think he'll get better. I have tried to help him so many times, but maybe with the right treatment he'll be like he used to be. It's not his fault, right?" Rüya said, hoping for Yaman to agree with her.
