Chapter 1: The King and The Queen

Cardan's POV

I was sitting in my chambers when Jude rushes in looking excited, she looks at me begging me to ask her why she's so excited. "Jude, what do you want to tell me?"

"We've been invited to the mortal world!"

"That's great, but why?"

"Vivi said that she wants us to come, no major reason."

"Okay, we can leave tomorrow my sweet nemesis" She looks radiant and starts raiding the closet for the mortal we have from the last time we visited. She packs them all but sighs because we don't have any shorts and it's summer in the mortal world. "We'll just have to go to the mall to get something." she says, I just smile and nod back at her.

As we're walking down the stairs to make some cookies for Heather and Vivienne, Jude trips and falls down the stairs. I run down to check if she's okay and I see her crying and not making any noise. "Jude, are you okay??" Then I notice she's laughing so hard that she has winded herself. She got herself up and carried on walking to the kitchen. I've never cooked before so I stood and watched for a while until she asked if I wanted to pour the flour. I reluctantly said ok and I ended up with flour everywhere apart from on Jude. So I flung some right at her face and she looked at me in shock and threw an egg straight at my head.

After our food fight, we abandoned the cookies and went upstairs to shower. Jude got in first after winning at a mortal game called rock, paper scissors which I didn't understand so of course she had the advantage as she actually understood the game. Tomorrow, we are going to go to the beach with Vivi and Heather, it's a private beach so nobody should be there and we can be as loud and stupid as we want. I had a swimsuit but Jude didn't so that was another thing to add onto the list.

I shower and then climb into bed and me and Jude read for a while and then we switch all of the lights off and I fall asleep to Jude drawing circles on my temple.

Jude's POV

I'm so excited, me and Cardan are visiting the mortal world for the second time, I've been begging to go back for ages and this is the time he said yes. We are going to go to the beach and the pier and the fish and chip shop and get doughnuts on the pier. I always get Vivi to send me doughnuts because you can't get them here. I barely slept lat night because I'm so excited. It's already 8:30 and Cardan isn't up so I get ready without him. By 9:30 I'm fully ready to go. I wake him up and tell him that he needs to get ready.

He stumbles out of bed 10 minutes later and finally starts to get ready, he puts on a matching outfit to me and smiles. It's black trousers with a belt and a white button up shirt that half tucked in and a few chains everywhere and a jacket. We looked really good but also we would fit in with the mortal world fashion. I went downstairs and noticed a wonderful breakfast set out for us by the maids. I thanked them and ate most of it.

By the time we where riding on the ragwort horses, I was starting to feel a bit tired and I knew that I needed to have a rest when I got to Vivi's house or else I would fall asleep at the beach and miss out on all of the fun. The ragwort horses reach her house in no time and I clamber off and run up to the house. I knock on the door and a blonde haired girl opens the door smirks and then closes it again. It must be a friend of Vivi's. I ring the doorbell but this time Cardan is next to me he was grabbing his bags and then the blonde opens the door again.

She looks from me and then to Cardan and her eyes widen when she sees him. I yell out "Heather, Vivi I'm here" they run down and greet me.

"Oh by the way Jude, Cardan this is Jessica but we call her Jess."

"Hi, its lovely to meet you."

She has moved herself next to Cardan and says " You have a really cute name, I'd love to scream it out in pleasure." I look at her with a look of disgust and then turn to Vivi and Heather who mouth 'it's normal, she'll get over it' Cardan looks at her and I see her knees shaking. She whispers something in his ear that makes him turn red and he walks straight into the spare bedroom.

I walk in and he's got his head buried in the sink and he's washing his face and mouth and arms and hands. He's scrubbing so viciously that his skin has gone bright red. "Cardan, what did she say to you?"

"She said that she was going to make me fall for her"

"That little bitch." I walk out of the bedroom but she's already gone. Cardan left the phone he has when he's in the mortal world on the table and the girl sent him a picture. By somehow taking his phone and putting her number into it. I almost threw up at the sight and just deleted the number and picture off his phone and laid it back down.

He came out in fresh clothes holding his old ones in a plastic bag which took to the garden and threw in to the bin. I asked him why he was throwing them away and he said

"Because she touched them in places only you can touch." She touched the chains that you bought me and has infected them and replaced your touch and smell from them." I knew the Fae where really faithful but this is a whole other level. I grab his hand take him inside and change my outfit as well so he doesn't feel uncomfortable and I put mine in a bag and throw it all away as well. I spray my perfume on my new shirt and then give him a hug so that some of me is with him.

I know that it all seems really over dramatic but the Fae just work differently and I'll support Cardan through it. He seems a lot more himself now and we walk into the kitchen to find Vivi, Heather and Oak all curled up on the couch watching a movie. We all decide to go to the beach tomorrow instead because it's getting late and we should chill instead. I end up laying my head on Cardan's lap and then my favourite movie of all time comes on. 'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.' I squeal and sit in Cardan's lap to watch the movie. As the movie finishes I lean my head onto Cardan's chest and fall asleep.
