Chapter 2: The Beach

Jude's POV

I woke up to the smell of bacon being cooked on the stove. I'm lying on the couch with a blanket on, Cardan isn't next to me anymore and I decide there's no time to sleep in today. I haul myself up and off the couch to see Vivi and Cardan cooking pancakes, bacon and eggs. Well it's mostly Vivi cooking Cardan is just watching her. "Morning." I get a nod of approval from Vivi and a smile from Cardan.

Today we're going to the beach and I'm so excited. Cardan hasn't been to a mortal beach before and the beach is private as well. I swear the royal family have a house there. I don't think they'll be there though because they are never there. My mum used to follow the royal family and always sing the national anthem. I always miss those days.

We finish breakfast and go to get ready, I am wearing a pink bikini with green shorts over the top and a green hat. I am wearing black sunglasses and my hair is trailing down my back. It's gotten a lot longer since I've been in Faerie. Cardan is wearing his green swim trunks to match me but there also his favourite.

As we pull out of the house I realise I forgot my sunglasses and I have to run back to get them. I swear I see something shimmering like a diamond from up at the house but I forget about it and walk back up to the car. I get in and we start the 20 minute drive to the beach house.

~20 minutes later~

We pull up to the beach house which is massive, some friends of ours own it and gave us a key a while ago so that we can go whenever we want. If we're lucky we get to see them as well. This week they aren't here which is kind of sad because I wanted to see them but I'm going to enjoy the week never less. There's another shiny thing in the corner and it's a carriage looking car pulled into the house next door. The royals must rent it out because they are barely ever here unless something big has happened and they need a break.

We walk down to the beach and there are footsteps behind us and I see a guard who his wearing swim shorts that have the Illea emblem on the corner. Royals must be here, I keep walking and catch up to Cardan and get him to turn around and see if he can see it as well. He nods and tells me to keep walking because the guards are especially on edge. I look around again and there is a woman next to the guard holding his hand. I can make out that his name begins with a C because it's on his shorts as well to identify him.

Maxon's POV

Me and America are taking a honeymoon along with Officer Aspen Leger, Officer Carter Woodwork, Marlee Woodwork and Lucy Leger. I am so excited, as we go past the first beach house there is a woman looking at us, I swear I've seen her before but I'm not sure. They are also going to the beach it seems. One has a crown on as well, but I've never seen them before and I've met all of the royals in the country and our alliances . It's probably fake and they are all having a bit of fun.

We pull into the driveway of the house and immediately set off to the beach. I haven't been to the beach in ages. I was hoping that if we had neighbours we could introduce ourselves, when I was 5 I made a friend here but they didn't live next door. I don't actually know where they lived and I don't know their name. They were really nice to me. America hopes to come back here a lot so it would be good to know our neighbours if we have them.

As we are heading down to the beach they are in front of us but The Woodworks are in front of us, so I can't get down the stairs to introduce myself. There are five of them, three girls and two boys. A purple haired girl holding a pink haired girls hand, wow. A man and a woman wearing matching green shorts and a young boy. They must all be a very lovely family. They look too young and perfect to be parents so I think that they are all siblings. They have a speaker on which they are playing some music.

It's not any kind of music I'm used to, she keeps turning and having a look at us. I recognise her and she seems to recognise one of us too. She taps her brother and gets him to have a look, he does and shrugs then whispers something to her. As her feet hit the sand, she pulls out a small dagger from under her shorts and then pulls a sword from the bag she was carrying. Carter and Aspen spring to life and jump on top of her.

She turns them both around and ends up on top of them with the sword to each of their throats. America suddenly starts clapping and says " Two of our best guards just got beaten by a girl." I look at her and she tries to walk to the girl but I stop her. " You don't know her she could be a rebel or dangerous, we've seen what she's done to our guards."

Ignoring me, she walks over and helps the girl up and asks if she's okay. She whispers something to America and she laughs. "So true" she says. I walk up and distance the two girls and give the girl a deep stare. Her brother comes over and takes her away from us. America runs after them and apologises and introduces herself. The girl turns around and smiles at me but also tries to take in what I look like. Like she was taking mental picture, probably so she can draw me and throw darts at my face later on.

I walk over and introduce myself as well. "Hi, I'm Maxon Schreve the King of Illea, this is my wife America and those two guards you met are a Carter and Aspen and those are their wives Marlee and Lucy." She smiles and says " It's lovely to meet you, Your Majesties, my name is Jude Duarte and that is my sister Vivienne and her girlfriend Heather, my halfbrother Oak and my husband Cardan." we have come from another world to yours.

She waves her husband over who introduces himself, she also adds that they are The High King and Queen of a place far away. I don't push on where they come from but decide to invite them to sit with us and I give her the chance to sword fight with some of our guards which she happily takes up the opportunity, and beats them with such ease.

We all decide to go for a dip in the sea, Cardan gives us the idea and grabs his wife and throws her in through gasps of laughter he kisses her fiercely. They end up full on making out halfway out in the ocean thinking we can't see them when we actually can. I try and imitate Cardan and pick America up but she's too squirmy and jumps out of my arms to run in by herself. I run after her and push her in. She dives into the deeper water and we end up next to Jude and Cardan in no time. We all play in the water for a bit and then go home to rest and we agreed to see them tomorrow.

Hi, I'm so glad I finished this in the time I did, I am thinking that I might do another chapter today, I've got five readers at the moment I want to thank you for reading my story. I have been thinking about this for ages and I want to say that I'm glad I'm finally writing it. I have written twice in the past two days but I don't promise to update every day. I will update whenever I can but expect a new chapter, bye xx
