Hudson Knight...

Being a Knight of Hell – I was not accustomed to others putting themselves on the line for me. Even when I was human, I hadn't ever had anyone do anything half as selfless as what Eve had just done for me.

In my human life I hadn't been one for close connections and I suspected that was part of the reason I had been hand-picked by Lucian, himself, when I found myself in purgatory. My human life had been war and fighting, that was it. I had no personal connections after my parents had disowned me when I joined the armed forces. They had been free-loving types, or at least that was what they would be called these days, back then they were seen as traitors to the cause. And now there was a part of me that wished I had made more of an effort with them because they could have taught me how to accept the type of kindness that Eve had just extended to me.

The little Demi-God just kept on surprising me.

And I could see that Lucian was equally blown away by her. That was never more evident than in the way he had watched her with Cerberus.

The O.G guard dog was not known for his soft side, nor the almost intelligent way he had been interacting with the newest member of the Morningstar family. It was maybe a little disturbing to see the animal that was literally made in the pits of Hell acting almost like a human-world puppy around the princess. I guess that's just what she brought out in others around her.

I mean just look at her mates – two Vampires who were vicious in their own rights, an Alpha shifter-wolf and a powerful Witch. The group would be formidable together when they completed the mating-bond. I don't think that there has ever been a faction as powerful as they had the potential to be, at least not on Earth.

How would I ever repay her for the selflessness she had shown me?

"Can I ask a favour, Hudson?" She asked as if she had just heard my thoughts.

"Anything, princess!"

"I don't want the guys distracted so can you please not tell them that Lucian is my dad?"

"Are you sure that is wise?" I asked and she gave me a questioning look, "I just mean, they are planning on storming in here, and wouldn't it be best if they knew what the deal was, so they don't do anything stupid?"

"Shit!" She sighed, "I didn't even think of that possibility!" I watched her closely as she ran her hands through her hair then seemed to steel herself, "alright here's what I want to do, if I haven't told them by the time they reach the portal, you tell them before you step back through, is that ok?" She asked me, before rushing forward, "I mean I want to tell them; I just don't know how to say it. I mean it's not every day that you hear that your mate is the offspring of the devil and with Kevin's history with this place I sort of wanted to tell him face to face, I feel like I owe him that much-" she was rambling, but I knew that this was just her process; her way of working things out in her head.

I may not understand what she is thinking but I did owe her, so I nodded my head to let her know I was on board. "Thank you, Hudson!"

"I should be the one thanking you, princess, you have no idea what you have just given me!"

"Your freedom?"

"Amongst other things-" I nodded.

We carried on in silence, following Lucian up to the bedroom quarters where he stopped outside one of the doors and turned to me, "you should shower before you leave, we can't have you seeing your girl for the first time looking like a common hobo!" It was Eve who barked her laughter at the King of Hell, but we both looked at her in question.
