Kevin Stoker...

Hudson had done us a solid by allowing us all to clamber onto his back so that he could fly us here. Without him we would still be miles away and possibly never found a way into the castle when we got here. Apparently, his welcome hadn't been revoked as he landed right inside the force-field that we now knew surrounded the huge Gothic style building.

Andrei and I could feel Eve's pain through the link we shared with her which was saying something because she had shut us out once Alex was gone. The raw emotion just trickled down our connection to her and it tore at us both because our need to be there for her was stronger than either of us had really predicted if I am being honest.

I have had connections with supes before.

Usually of the blood donor persuasion and those could be incredibly consuming. The need for blood was strong at the best of times but when you claim a specific blood-source for yourself it could become dangerously close to an obsession. However, with Eve it was a complete obsession – to be near her, to touch her, to hold her and to drink from her. It was beyond anything I could have ever imagined if I am being honest with myself.

So, when we arrived here at the castle and Lucian took us to her room to find that she was not there, I was ready to rip his head off.

He had lost her.

The most important person in my world and he had fucking misplaced her. And he was far too cavalier about it too. Like he had just misplaced a set of keys. It was rage inducing.

We all split up with the plan to meet back at her room in twenty minutes. When we all arrived back, Eve-less I had a fleeting thought that I voiced to Lucian. It was like a light-bulb going on above his head as he nodded. I told the others to wait in the room and followed Lucian down to the entrance to the dungeon. Asking him for a few moments alone with her, he seemed inclined to argue but I informed him that he owed me. The clench in his jaw indicated he wasn't happy that I had brought up the past, but I didn't give even half a shit what he thought. I just needed Eve. Alone for a few moments.

Finally, he opened the door for me and let me descend alone. I guess I was right about him owing me.

Standing at the bottom of the stairs and staring at the huge three-headed hound who was whimpering softly, as if he was in pain, kept one eye on me while staring down at his huge paw and nudging gently at it until I saw a small hand rising up.

"Evie?" Completely astounded to see this ferocious beast acting like a big happy lap-dog with my mate was something that I never imagined I would ever witness. I mean come on, the beast was grotesque and created for war.

Eve rose up from her spot against his chest and actually fucking kissed the beast's snout before rushing at me like she couldn't help herself. Crashing into me with impact, I gripped her tight and held on with relief spreading through my system like wild-fire.

After we had exchanged some words, she looked down at me with worry marring her beautiful features. "What is it, beautiful?"

"There is something that I have to tell you and I know that you are not going to be happy about it-" she whispered, fear lacing her tone.

"Is this the reason you wouldn't keep the mind-link open?"

"Yes, because honestly, this is the type of thing that you deserved to hear face to face!"

I could feel the apprehension coming off her in waves like an ocean breaking against the surf – she was majestic and raw and open to me in ways that I had ached for since she had been dragged away from me. God's help me but in a world of over four billion people, there was only her. Always her.
