"You don't deserve my image in your head, but I still go to sleep wishing it was there."
- Unknown

"We have potions with Gryffindor."
Announced Adelaide as she took a seat beside Avery at the Slytherin table. She was wearing her skirt and shirt, loosely buttoned, with no tie because she had left it in the common room.

There was a collective groan from Avery, Mulciber, Severus and another boy, Marcus Dae. Marcus had been Adelaide's friend since first year, and was a kind, friendly face, sorted into Slytherin due to his quick thinking and ambition. He, like Adelaide, judged people on who they were, not what they were, and was friends with many students from other houses.

"Marcus, I thought you didn't mind the Gryffindors?"

"I don't, I just.. That Potter. He's such a show off. And his friends, too. Not to mention he's horrible to Severus, and only because Severus is top of the class."

Marcus explained with a glance in the direction of the Gryffindor table. James was laughing with Remus and Peter, his glasses falling down his nose. Adelaide turned away from them and faced her friends again.

"You've got a point there.. I heard Slughorn was planning on putting us in pairs for a potion today."

"Really?"
Severus asked, his head snapping up.

"Yeah, with the Gryffindor's."

"Mh.. That should be.. Terrible."
He grumbled. Adelaide eyed him warily.

"Are you hoping to be paired with Evans? Is that it, Sev?"
She asked.

"What? No, what would put that notion into your head?"
He demanded, dropping his fork an almost choking on his pumpkin juice. Adelaide smirked.

"Who would want to be with thy mudblood scum anyway?"
Mulciber asked rhetorically. Adelaide felt her blood boil.

"Oh fuck off Mulciber, you're being prejudice."
She snapped at him. Mulciber glared at her but stayed silent. Marcus and Avery glanced between the two while Severus kept his eyes on the plate of food he had. Adelaide pushed her food away and stood up abruptly.

"I've lost my appetite. See you guys later."
She announced, slinging her bag over one shoulder and storming out of the hall.

She ran into Sirius and James on the way out.
"Ooh, where are you off to in such a rush, Tanner?"

James questioned, raising his eyebrows. It was one of his favourite things to do; mock Adelaide.
"Get out of my way before I hex you, asshole."
She muttered angrily. James and Sirius shared a look of surprise.

"Not feeling very friendly today, eh?"
James asked her. Adelaide rolled her eyes, looking up darkly, her green orbs blazing, and took a deep breath. Pursing her lips slightly, something she did when thinking, she eyes James cooly.

"I don't do empty threats, Potter. Get out of my way or I'll make you get out of my way."
She hissed. James eyes her warily but chuckled.

"Please. You couldn't make me-"
Adelaide cut him off by pulling out her wand and pointing it at him. James responded immediately, pulling out his wand as Sirius mirrored him.

"As I was saying, you couldn't make me move even if you wanted to, Tanner. You wouldn't hex me."

"Try me."
Adelaide replied dangerously.

"What is the meaning of this?"
A drawling voice asked, wheezing heavily. The three spun immediately to face Filch, the caretaker. He was staring at them as he stroked his cat, her red eyes glowing in the dim hallway light.
