yui laughs heartily, watching her team finish up their last and final penalty for the training camp. "are you sure you should be laughing at them?" yaku asks. "it doesn't matter, does it?" the girl replies. "i'll be back. the coaches have some surprise for you guys. in the meantime, i have things to do." she says before walking away, whistling. "she's weird." lev remarks. "she's pretty though. she should just come to nekoma now and be our manager. i bet every other school would be jealous of us, and we would be on par with karasuno!" yamamoto adds, all hyped up and excited. "despite her being weird, she isn't actually a bad manager." kai speaks up, a few nodding. "karasuno might have improved, but it doesn't mean we didn't. she did actually help us with our skills." "i always thought yaku-senpai was too harsh on lev, but seeing her train lev makes me think otherwise." inuoka speaks up, and lev practically shivers at the thought of having to practice his receives with yui. "inuoka, please don't remind me. i'm still traumatised." lev says slightly dejected while the rest laugh at him. "so much for not playing volleyball." kenma adds, still catching his breath from the match.
all the teams are bonding and eating happily. yui and the rest of the managers are gossiping at one area, enjoying themselves as they eat some of the food. it just so happens that yachi has an empty plate, and yui brings her to get some food, which yachi is grateful for as everyone seems to tower over her. "yachi, you should eat more. you're so small and skinny. and look at you! shivering at the sight of all these sweaty men." yui teases, handing the younger girl a full plate of food. "y-yes! thank you, yui-senpai." she says before scurrying away. "where'd you go earlier?" noya appears from behind, causing his sister to jump. "fuck off, you scared me." she says, calming herself down. "not my fault. does kenma know yet?" he asks, his mouth full. yui rolls her eyes at her brother. "don't talk with your mouth full, it's disgusting. also no, i don't think he knows yet. but, that reminds me. i'll be back again." she says, going to the managers and whispering in their ears. noya, tanaka and yamamoto try their best to listen in, but to no avail. soon enough, the managers all disappear from the area.
"everyone! since you guys are finishing up with your little buffet, the managers have a little surprise for you guys!" eri announces loudly, catching the attention of the boys, teachers and coaches. some of the boys look at their teachers, wondering if they knew anything about this sudden surprise, which they do not. "we baked some apple pies for you guys." the girl says, and the managers place the pies on the table. "yuuka-san came up with the idea though." kiyoko adds. there is a moment of silence before the boys cheer loudly, thanking the girls for their hard work. eventually, yui has two plates in her hand, a slice in each. she walks over to kenma, who was patiently waiting for kuroo to get him some pie while he continues playing his game.
"here." she says, handing the boy one of the plates. "thanks, yui." he says, taking it. "your welcome— wait." she pauses, staring at him. "did you think i wouldn't find out?" kenma asks, a small smile forming on his face as he looks up at her. "HUH?? WHAT??? HELLO??? WHEN?" she asks, shocked. "when i got mr neko's name. you suddenly appearing, a suspension, being a twin. they weirdly coincided with you, but when i saw that kitten, i knew. you aren't good at making up stuff on the spot by the way." "kenken, you knew and you didn't tell me?" she whines, taking a seat next to him. he shrugs, taking a bite out of his apple pie. "it's good." he quietly whispers. "i know, right? i make a killer apple pie. plus, i promised you i would make it for you, didn't i?" she says proudly. "ah, you finally found out?" kuroo asks, walking over with his second slice of pie. "you knew that he knew and didn't tell me either?" yui groans. "he told all of us. in nekoma. so yeah." the older boy confirms her assumption, and she sighs in defeat. "i hate you all." "you love me though." kenma barely says above a whisper, leaving it unheard by anyone else.
