As the crowded room silenced, Shubman laid back on the armchair a little more, lips curling into a faint smile.

"Gramps, bohot khubsurat tha kya woh?"

Shubman's wrinkled face chuckled, making his dimples more prominent on the old face.

"Khoobsurat? Aisa toh nahi tha ki usse zyada sundar ladka maine dekha nahi tha....par meri ankhein usko chorke kisiko aajtak dekh hi nahi paayi..."

1955, Delhi

In the serene embrace of an old Indian house nestled in the banks of the Ganges, a beautiful evening unfolded. The air was cool, faintly carrying the incense from nearby temples, mingling with the gentle breeze that rustled through the leaves of Banyan trees.

The silvery moon casted a soft glow over the scene, bathing everything in a mystical light that enhanced the charm of the old house. Lanterns and oil lamps flicked softly, casting warm inviting light onto the courtyard.

"Shubi, yaar, chal na, Ganga ghat chalte hai! The breeze is so nice today!"

Kuldeep's voice broke Shubman's stare on the moon, it looked so divine tonight. He put up an arm around Siraj's neck and pulled him along the cobblestoned road.

"Let's go! Abhi toh Virat uske premika ke liye fhul tod ke le jayega? Ghat ke pass hai na woh chameli ka per?"

All of them laughed out, making Virat hush them, blushing. As they walked up to the pavement of the ghat of the Ganga, Shubman's eyes fell on the frantic ripples in the water. Strolling closer, the tranquil atmosphere was abruptly shattered by a sudden splashing echoing in the waters.

Shubman ran past his friends, eyes widened in alarm as he spotted a man thrashing amidst the river's embrace, struggling to stay up the water.

"Somebody is drowning, man! Look!" Siraj's alarming voice gathered the attention of a few passerby as the group of friends rushed.

Without a moment's hesitation, Shubman kicked off his shoes and leaped into the Ganga, cold waters enveloping him as he swam towards the desperate figure. With the last reserves of his strength, he dragged the man back onto the ground of the ancient stone steps.

As he laid the man there, panting and drenched, the sounds of the evening a distant echo, Shubman glanced at the man he had saved.....the faint moonlight highlighted the contours of his gentle curve of lips.

Shubman couldn't help but notice the light dancing on his eyes, two pools of warm honey that reflected back his face in the lingering twilight. He was captivated, his heart beating so fast that he imagined he'd collapse right on top of him. The man was looking at him with those dark, expressive eyes.

"So beautiful..." Shubman murmured and he didn't know if the man heard him but there was a faint hue of red on his cheeks, probably from the near death experience.

"Shubman, tu thik hai! Hey!"

Virat's cruel sound made him lose his momentary infatuation and he glanced back at his friends who stood worried, a couple of unknown faces nearby.

He turned in front at the man he saved, who was looking at them like they were ghosts. His demeanour had shifted as he regained his breath, and his eyes conveyed almost no emotions there.

"What's your name? How did you fall into the river, dude?" Siraj asked with curiosity, the man only looked at him, without answering anything.

Shubman crooked his eyebrows a little, why wasn't he speaking?
