The kiss was something amazing, intense, indescribable. And no, it wasn't my first kiss, but it felt like it was.
At first I thought Konstantin was going to push me away, but in the end he didn't and kissed me back. And that wild, passionate kiss assured me that we were made for each other.
Unfortunately, all this only lasted a few seconds, because a moment later we were interrupted by someone's unruly voice:
"Go make out somewhere else!"
The voice made me realise that we were sitting on a bench in the middle of the park full of people.
I wasn't the only one brought back to reality by this obnoxious old man who was feeding the pigeons not far away and couldn't stand the sight of our public displays of affection.
Kon immediately pulled away from me and gave the grumpy geezer a slightly embarrassed look.
"Come on," I said, taking Konstantin's hand, and although he still looked a bit taken aback, he let himself be dragged further into the park to a large oak tree where couples often met. Its trunk was decorated with many carved monograms and hearts.
At last, though, we were off the main paths, out of sight of all the park's visitors, and had some privacy.
"Are you still going to tell me there's nothing between us?" I confronted him.
After that admittedly brief kiss, he could no longer pretend that he wasn't attracted to me. "Are you still denying that you want me? That you don't see how we respond to each other?"
"Of course we're responding to each other, Adrian," he replied sternly, looking quite upset at what I'd done. And maybe even at the fact that he didn't stop me. "I'm an alpha, you're an omega. We're attracted to each other, that's how it is. Besides, we've formed a deeper bond because I was with you during the heat."
"Are you saying this is a common thing? That you've had it like this with every omega you've ever met?"
I didn't want to believe it. I'd never felt this strongly about any alpha before.
"No, I haven't," he admitted, averting his eyes. "It's different, but... Adrian, this is about you."
"Me?"
"You're too young, you have no experience, you can't know what you really want. Now you may think it's me because I crossed a line and did something I shouldn't have. But sooner or later someone else will come along and you'll find out that he's the one."
Then something struck me: "Did this happen to you? With another omega?"
He shook his head, "Never mind."
He clearly didn't want to talk about it, but I began to suspect that was the reason he was pushing me away.
Did he not believe that I was serious about him? Because he had been hurt before?
But how could I convince him that this was real?
"You don't have to act like a professional all the time, I'm not your client. So why not make a big deal out of it? We can try it together and see if there's something between us."
"That's not a good idea. Even though you're no longer my client, I still have a responsibility to you. And you're not even of age."
"I'll be eighteen in a month." Or two.
"So you're not of age," he emphasised. "Besides, I'm much older than you."
"You're not that much older, you're just making excuses," I grinned. "How old are you then?"
