I sat in the passenger seat and watched Konstantin navigate his car, an older Honda Civic, through the winding streets and intersections.
The traffic in the city centre was busy even at this late hour, and although I didn't yet have a driving licence, I guessed from Konstantin's racing style that he didn't either.
The other boy was still edgy, barely spoke and seemed quite shaken by the incident.
The unpleasant experience was still fresh in my mind, but now, in the presence of Konstantin, it all faded away and I felt better.
My chauffeur slammed on the brakes and stopped at a red light.
He tossed his head nervously and his fingers tightened on the wheel. He was really out of it today, I didn't recognise him at all.
"What's wrong?"
"I can smell the two alphas on you, I can't stand it," he admitted. "Besides, in a closed car it smells a lot more than outside. It's so annoying I can't calm down".
Well, well... and whose fault was that?
Who turned me down and left me in the park? Who didn't answer my texts or phone calls? Who dumped me because he couldn't admit that we belonged together?
"Then do something about it," I suggested, and I could think of lots of ways to do so.
Touch me, kiss me, take me, mark me, erase the touch of those two alphas from my body, I urged him in my mind, but said nothing aloud. Maybe he'd come up with the idea himself.
Unfortunately, although Kon might have thought of it, he did nothing.
Instead, he reached into his sports bag on the back seat, pulled out his training suit from the judo class and threw it at me.
Then he quickly put the car into gear and drove off, for the traffic light had been green for several seconds and the car behind us was honking impatiently.
"What about this?" I didn't understand.
"Put it on."
The white fabric of the suit didn't smell unpleasantly of sweat, but it smelled very intensely of Konstantin. Should I really put it on?
"And you don't find this a little kinky?"
"Just do it, Adrian," he ordered sharply, his eyes fixed on the crowded street ahead of him.
There really was something in the air. All the alphas were acting as if they were completely out of their minds today. Even Konstantin, who had always been so perfectly in control. But for him, I'd say the fight was mostly to blame.
As for the other alphas, it could have been low atmospheric pressure, a solar flare or, who knew, a full moon.
And why not? After all, people used to say that alphas and omegas had something of the wolf in them. It was superstition, of course, but the alphas' aggressiveness and sensitivity to scent added to the rumours.
Of course, neither Kon, Chris nor Patrick turned into werewolves on a full moon or howled at the moon, although the notion was hilarious. But honestly, considering how some alphas behave, it would explain a lot.
So I decided I'd rather not provoke Konstantin any further and did as he asked. I took off my sweatshirt and wrapped myself in his jacket instead.
I had to admit that, as strange as the idea seemed, it was nice in the end. Wearing Konstantin's training suit, smelling of him, felt like having his arms around me. And yes, it calmed me down, and the last remnants of fear and nervousness from the unpleasant experience faded away.
