I scrunched my brows together in confusion. Ever since I've entered inside the hospital, all eyes are turning to me.

I'm not a fan of unnecessary attention. Maybe, I'm not comfortable with it.

I sighed. Maybe they got to know that I hit Akshat?

After checking my surgery schedule, I was about to head to the cafeteria to grab a cup of coffee when I saw board members of the hospital walking towards me.

I don't think hitting Akshat could be this big of an issue. I mean, sure, I might get disciplinary actions on me but—

“Dr. Saad Hafiz.” One of the board members, greeted me with a big smile.

Okay.

“Hello, sir.”

“We're really happy to have you. It's our pleasure that you work in this hospital.” Another one said.

I paused. What in the world is happening here?

“I'm really ashamed for what my son had done. I'm asking for forgiveness on his behalf.” Akshat's father spoke.

What's happening here?

I nodded, not knowing exactly what to say.

“Also, congratulations on your marriage.” Another person handed me a flower bouquet.

“Thankyou?” I whispered.

They all passed me a big smile and turned around to leave. Wait. Did they just came here to meet me?

I pressed my fingers against my temple in disbelief and looked around in confusion. What exactly is happening here? Why everyone is looking at me like this?

Trying to ignore them, I walked to the  receptionist. “Is something wrong?”

Her eyes widened upon seeing me and she adjusted her glasses. “Dr. Hafiz, I don't get it.”

“Why everyone is behaving like this?” I asked.

“Maybe because they got to know about your marriage with the Billionaire Dhriti Dewan.” She replied.

Oh.

Offcourse, Dhriti is a public figure. The whole country knows her name but I never thought that the members of my hospital are going to react like this after knowing about my marriage to her.

The board members who never acknowledged me, all of sudden came all the way here just to congratulate me?

I chuckled, shaking my head.

Dhriti always calls herself as damaged good. Does she even know that what she is to the the world?

If anything, right now, I'm proud of her. People don't usually find it possible to navigate through their trauma and build up a new life. They usually succumb to the confinement the put around themselves and I'm not saying that it's a bad thing. Every individual have their own way to deal with their traumatic past. Just like my Hadiya, who is till struck in the past, not willing to move forward. She isn't wrong and I don't blame her for being scared and broken but Dhriti, she's different.
