SAAD

I knocked on the door twice before she opened it and rolled my eyes. “Now what? Do you plan to fuck me?”

“Come out and have dinner.” I said, ignoring her bitter words.

“It's two in the morning, husband.” She replied.

“You haven't eaten anything since morning—” Before I could complete my sentence, she pushed me aside and walked to the dinner table.

She sat on the chair and scoffed. “Instant noodles?”

“I'm sorry I couldn't make anything else at this time.” I said and sat across the table.

She clicked her tongue and bought a fork to her mouth only to spit the noodles out from her mouth. “Why the fuck it's hot?” She stared at her plate then pushed the plate away from the table only for it to fell on the floor. “Don't you know that I don't eat the food even if it's slightest warm?”

I looked at her in confusion. “What do you mean by that, Dhriti?”

“Didn't my dear brother tell you? I eat the food only when it's on the room temperature? I can't swallow burning food down my throat or else I start to hyperventilate.” She replied.

I forrowed my brows together trying to understand her point.

“It's called trauma, husband.” She shrugged.

I stiffened at her words. She couldn't even have the proper meal?

I was there in the hospital with Daivik when she was admitted after what happened— I don't know the much detail but Daivik told me that her in-laws tried to burn her alive for dowry.
I'm aware that she has burnt marks on her body but I have no idea how serious it is or the fact that she couldn't even eat warm food.

I've decided long back that I'm never going to date anyone, let alone the marriage thing. She's the first girl to be in the same room with me. After what had happened in the past, I was sure that no matter how hard I try, I'll never be able to move forward.

When I was a teenager, I was separated from my family. Hadiya was a little girl back then, I doubt if she remembers me. When I was finally able to go back to my house, I was told that she's married. I tried to reason my parents that how can they marry her at young age but they told me that she's living a good life. That her husband treats her like a Queen.

I had no idea what our parents had done to her. When I saw her after years, she looked anything but happy. She was pale, thin and broken. She told me about our parents had done to her. First arranging her marriage to an older man and then after his death, they made her marry that Bastard Anas.

When I got to know that he had married another woman just because Hadiya couldn't conceive, all I wanted was to beg my sister to forgive me for not being able to be there for her when she needed me the most.

Daivik is a nice man, I'm sure that he's going to treat her right.

Just like I'm worried about Hadiya, he must've felt the same for Dhriti. I hope I don't hurt this girl, she had been through so much. Even if I fail to be a good husband to her, I'll try my best to be a decent human to her.
