The little one had fallen asleep in her playroom last night, surrounded by her beloved toys and stuffed animals. The room was a cozy haven with soft pastel colors, scattered plushies, and a small bed adorned with her favorite crinkly blanket. The night was peaceful until her dreams turned dark. She awoke, tears welling up in her eyes as the remnants of a nightmare lingered in her mind.
Clutching her pink bearie in one hand and her crinkly blankie in the other, she felt an overwhelming need to find her mama. With a sniffle, she slid out of her small bed, her bare feet making soft pitter-patter sounds against the wooden floor. She tiptoed down the hallway, the familiar path to her and Mama's room bringing a sense of comfort.
As she pushed the door open, the room was dimly lit by the moonlight filtering through the curtains. Mama lay asleep, her peaceful expression illuminated by the gentle glow. She crawled into the bed, careful not to wake her at first, but her little whimpers gave her away.
Mama's eyes fluttered open. She immediately wrapped her arms around her, pulling her baby close. "What's wrong, sweetheart?" she whispered, her voice soothing and full of concern.
She could only manage one word, her voice trembling, "Dream."
Mama's heart ached seeing her little one so distressed. She kissed her forehead and began to coo softly, "It's okay, my darling. Mama's here. Those dreams can't hurt you."
She nestled deeper into her mama's embrace, feeling the warmth and safety of her presence. Mama continued to comfort her, her voice gentle and reassuring. "You have me to protect you from the dreams, your mama is always here. You're safe, my love. It was just a bad dream."
As Mama hummed a soft lullaby, her eyes began to droop. The soothing melody wrapped around her like a warm blanket, easing her fears and lulling her back to sleep. The ever so sleepy ones thumb found its way into to her mouth, a comforting habit that always made her feel secure.
Mama noticed and gently replaced her thumb with her paci, pressing a kiss on her little one's head. "Goodnight, my baby. Mama will always be here for you," she whispered.
With a final, sleepy sigh, she drifted back to sleep, feeling safe and loved in her mama's arms. Mama stayed awake for a while, holding her precious girl close and humming softly, ensuring that her dreams stayed sweet for the rest of the night.
