Chapter 7 - Human?

Year 850

Trost District, Wall Rose

Y/N POV

I held my blade at the ready. Sweat dripped down my face as I eyed the lines of soldiers in front of us. They tried to take Eren but Mikasa was being herself and punched a soldier. So now here we are, surrounded by dozens of soldier with their weapons pointed at us. We were steadily talking them down, however. 

All we needed was a bit more talking and-

Eren: "I'll kill you..."

Annnnd there it goes...

I look over to Mikasa in confusion. She looks at me just as confused. We both look back to see Eren was stirring awake.

Y/N: "Eren... really?" I give him a deadpan look. 'Hopefully, the soldiers didn't hear that...'

Mikasa: "Eren!" She stopped herself from running to him, keeping her blades at the ready in case the Garrison decided to jump on us.

Armin: "Eren, can you move? Are you yourself again? Tell them everything you know! I'm sure they'll understand!" Armin was begging for Eren to know something, but Eren was more confused than any of us.

Eren: "Armin? Mikasa? Y/N? What's going on?" He looked around, seeing the guns pointed at us.

The soldiers began to comment about what Eren said. Their talking was silenced when the coward of a captain yelled out.

Captain Woermann: "Cadets Yeager, Arlert, Ackermann, and Tsugikuni! Your present behavior is to be considered high treason! What do you have to say in your defense?!"

Y/N: "Eren you need to answer him." I looked back at Eren, he looked like a lost puppy. "Shit."

Captain Woermann: "If you try anything deceitful or attempt to make a move, the artillery will open fire on you immediately!" 

I looked up at the wall to see that a cannon had been pointed at us. The soldiers there were ready at any moment to fire it.

Eren: "Huh?"

Y/N: "Eren, please say something other than 'huh'. Literally, anything right now will help us."

Eren only stared at the group of soldiers before us, clearly trying to piece together what happened that could justify a response like this. Woermann on the other hand... was done with Eren's silence.

Captain Woermann: "I ask of you! What are you? A human or a titan!"

His question seemed to shake Eren to the very core.

Y/N: 'Good, maybe he's starting to remember things.'

Eren: "I... I don't understand the question!"

Y/N: 'Or not...'

Captain Woermann: "You're feigning ignorance? Damn, monster! Try playing dumb with me again! We'll blow you to bits in an instant! We won't give you time to show your true face!" 

I could see the Garrison Soldier prepare to run in and attack us. This was going to be a bloodbath if we didn't do something quick.

Captain Woermann: "Everybody saw it! You emerged from the carcass of a Titan! Mankind has allowed creatures like you to infiltrate Wall Rose! Even though you're cadets sworn to the King himself, it's appropriate to preemptively eliminate this risk!"

His voice was shaky, and his body was swaying back and forth.

Y/N: 'He's terrified. How are we going to convince a man scared of his own shadow.'
