Two weeks had passed and Jiwon had been going back and forth between her home and the hospital. Soohyun had recovered tremedously physically but had not shown much progress in terms of his memory.
He was scheduled for discharged in a few days and the question arose where he was going to go home to now that technically they were still married.
Heaving a heavy sigh, Jiwon found herself at the doorstep of the apartment they shared when they were married. Immediately she felt nostalgic just from looking at the door. She assumed that Soohyun had sold the apartment after their divorce until Hae In told her otherwise.
She stared at the lock for a bit before sliding the cover across and pressing in their anniversary date. The door unlocked immediately catching her by surprise.
He really didn't change the passcode.
Stepping into the apartment, all the memories she shared with Soohyun came playing like an old tape - right from when they first moved in as newlyweds up to the day he left through the door.
Everything was still in placed just as how she remembered them to be. The furnitures at every corner of the apartment. The photos right from their dating days, wedding, honeymoon and the time spend together throughout their marriage.
He hadn't moved a single thing.
Jiwon remembered the nights they spend on the couch cuddling as they watch their favourite movie on repeat, sometimes just getting wasted and waking up in each others arms or just staying up late talking about nothing.
The small dining table where they made it compulsory to have breakfast together. The countertop right across the kitchen where they bicker over whether an egg or a chicken came first, sometimes just giving each other a backhug when one had a long day.
The short hallway where they sometimes chased after each other while laughing for no reason. The study room along the same hallway where they argued and decided to go their separate ways.
She then found herself at the door to their bedroom. They made love, fought, laughed and cried in this space. It was a space reserved for just the two of them and it made her heart feel everything and anything.
She leaned against the doorframe and heave a small sigh.
"How do I even explain to him? Where do I start?" She murmured to herself before peering to look at her left hand and on her ring finger.
I can't even recall what happened to my wedding band.
...
"So are they moving in together? At their old place?" Ji Hyun asked her mother right after she yelled at her boys not to run careleslly across the living room.
Soohyun's mother was prepping for lunch when she paused and stared into nothing at her daughter's question.
"Omma, you're scaring me." Ji Hyun nudged her mother's elbow as she grabbed hold of a knife to cut the cabages.
"She's going to tell him." Her mother reveal making the younger's eyes round and wide. "What? But he just recovered! I mean -
"Jiwon spoke to me yesterday." Her mother cut in. "And you okayed it?" Ji Hyun asked in concern. "It's better that he knows now than later right? Besides his doctor said he's a lot more stable now." Her mother nodded to herself and Ji Hyun knew from just her body language that the elder was still worried.
"Did she mention how she was going to reveal it to him? I mean.. what do we do about Tae Oh? How is she -
Ji Hyun sighed in defeat."We shouldn't have reached out to Jiwon." Her mother murmured. "Maybe we should have been upfront to him when he first woke up." She continued.
"We didn't know omma. We didn't know Jiwon was pregnant then." Ji Hyun reached out to hold her mother's hand.
Her mother couldn't hold her tears then.
"Our Jiwon..she must have gone through so much alone. And all these years we only pitied our Soohyun. And our Soohyun what do we do about him when he finds out he never knew of his child to begin with?" Her mother broke down making the younger walk over to hug her tight.
"Everything will be ok. Let's have faith." Ji Hyun whispers.
