Class Two
Hadith of Jabir.

سَبَب إيراد الحَديث/سَبَب تَحديث:

The reason for narrating Hadith. I.e. something occured for the narrator to mention the Hadith.

سبب وُرودِ الحَديث:
When there was a reason that prompted Muhammad ﷺ to respond to something or to do something.

Example: the first Hadith in Bulughul Maram where the Prophet ﷺ was asked about making Wudhu from the sea water.

He responded to that by saying:

هُوَ الطَّهورُ ماؤُهُ الحِلُّ مَيتَتُه.

Example of Sabab Iraad & Sabab Wurood from the Hadith of Jibreel:

• Jibreel came to ask about about Islam, Iman & Ihsaan. (Sabab Wurood)

• The chain of this Hadith in Sahih Muslim. (Sabab Iraad)

-> Prophet ﷺ performed Hajj before the Hijrah and he performed only one Hajj after the Hijrah.

- He ﷺ performed 4 Umrahs during his lifetime.

- All Umrahs were performed in the month of Dhul-Qa'ada:

1. Umratul-Hudaybiyah.
2. Umratul-Qadiyyah.
3. Umratul-Ji'iraanah.
4. Umrah combined with this Hajj.

The obligation of Hajj:
The verses of Hajj was revealed at the end of the 9th year according to some scholars. This is considered to be stronger.

Reasons why Prophet did not make Hajj in the Ninth year of Hijrah:

1. After the conquest of Mecca, there were many tribes from all over Arabia who came to Madinah to meet the Prophet, proclaim their Islam and pledge their allegiance to him. This year is referred to as the year of the Delegates.

2. The polytheists were still making Hajj that year.

3. To show the rightfulness of Abu Bakr and that he was most deserving to lead the Ummah after the death of prophet.

4. Polytheists only did Hajj during Dhul-Qa'ada.

5. To allow more of the Sahabah to prepare and make the Hajj with the Prophet.

We as Muslims, we are the Ummah of Ittibaa'.
