Closing my eyes and curled up in a ball with the feeling of a massive wood touching my skin to a place where they call 'The Discipline Cell'. Tears kept flowing down my face, but no sound came out of my mouth. The regular torture continues for five more minutes until they are more than satisfied. They stop hitting me and threw the wood in my head.
"Tsk, you should know your place you dirty bastard, you only eat what the barn animals eat. Someone like you don't deserve to consume anything clean" the owner of the orphanage sneered, while his children and wife laughed along. My eyes are still close as I feel every pain in my body especially my head that I feel is now bleeding. They all stepped out of the cell, locking me inside. I remained there until they eventually gave the order to release me, which happened in less than a week.
My body starts to get numb as my previous scars hasn't healed yet, The only pain I felt was from my bleeding head, and I started to feel dizzy. I can't believe I've been stuck in this situation for sixteen years without knowing why I was abandoned as a newborn. Nothing has changed, not even a single thing up until now. Slowly, I opened my eyes, but my vision was blurry. giving all my strength, I lifted my arms and clasped my hands together. A flood of tears mingled with a hopeful smile...
"If there is such a thing as second chances, I wish to be given the opportunity to live a different life where I can be myself... I would pay anything to escape this cruel fate, so please..." My vision started to fade to black.
"HEAR MY WISHES!!!" The last tear flowed from my eyes. Before I passed out, I heard a loud ticking sound.
....................
"You're so slow!!! Are you all like snails?!!" I jolted awake at the loud sound of Bald Head shouting outside. We called the orphanage owner bald head because, well, he was bald. I sighed and was about to get up when I realized I was supposed to still be in the discipline cell. Could it be someone took me out? Can't be, no one is allowed to act on their own without bald head's order or any of his family. Then how? and I'm suppose to be passed out or even died because of the injury on my head. I pinch my face to see if I'm actually alive or dreaming but I got surprise not by the pain but the look of my hand. I got up quickly and saw my body has shrunk and I'm still wearing an oversize robe that was worn by the children in our orphanage. I'm way to shock to process everything when one of the workers banged opened the door ...
"Hey!!! Why are you still here looking pretty?! Get out and start working" He dragged me outside and push me where the horses are. "Stop slacking off and get started!!!" he shouted, leaving me alone with the horses, who seemed entirely unfazed. I sighed and pondered my situation. Walking over to where the horses drank water, I stared at my reflection in the water's surface.
"What the? I look like my five-year-old self," I exclaimed, touching my face in disbelief. "What happened? Did I come back in time? How?" I asked myself, trying to make sense of it all. Then, remembering the events from the previous night, a realization struck me. "Did my wish come true? Have I been given a second chance?" I smiled with teary eyes.
Suddenly, the horse's breath on my face jolted me awake. "Yeah, this isn't the time for daydreaming. I have to move quickly and waste no time." I swiftly fed the horses, cleaned them and their barn, and replaced their water.
After finishing my tasks, I was supposed to go to the market to pick up some fruits, but I decided against it. This time of year marked the orphanage's adoption period, and it was my first opportunity to change my fate. I needed someone powerful enough to take me away from this place and these people. In the past, I hadn't been able to keep track of adoptions because they kept me working all day long. I relied on the gossip of the workers to find out who had been adopted. This time, though, I was determined to get adopted myself and leave this place behind.
I was hiding from bald head for a while now by climbing on the tree near the entrance way, I started seeing Kwaris arriving and stepping out of their mahika karera.
Time had passed, and I hadn't seen a suitable kwaris to rescue me. I sighed, thinking maybe I would have better luck tomorrow. I was ready to climb down the tree when an intimidating mahika karera arrived. The door opened, and there stood the person I knew was capable of getting me out of here—it was none other than...
