Three years later
Maloi

Its Moving Day! I can't believe we're finally moving to our forever home. It seemed as if it was just yesterday when my girlfriend and I decided to look for an apartment to rent together. I felt like all our hardworking and sacrifices are finally paying off.

"Uyab? I think nasa baba na yung truck?" Colet called from the balcony of our condo, distracting me from my musings.

My phone started to ring; it was the moving truck driver. "Eto, tumatawag na sila," I answered the phone and told Colet I'm heading down.

The movers brought our things up one by one and after an hour, everything was finally unloaded.

We thanked them then started to organize and unpack. By lunch time, we were already making good progress.

"Bili ako lunch. You want Jollibee?" Colet asked as she stood up and stretched. Damn. How could I have bagged someone this hot.

We're celebrating our third anniversary this year pero my heart still melts whenever I see her doing the most random things.

She smirked and raised her eyebrows. "I'm guessing that's a yes then," she got the car keys and headed for the door.

Jollibee on moving day sorta became our tradition. We've rented at least two other apartments before finally moving to our forever home.

"Bili mo din ako ice cream!" I added. She laughed and said, "Yes, I know."

I've been eating way too much sundae since Jollibee has matcha as their special flavor this summer. I've been eating it every chance that I've got.

As soon as she left our condo, I quickly got up and looked for my bag. I know it's here somewhere. I almost forgot exactly where as I purposely did not think about it, afraid for Colet to catch on and read my thoughts.

I finally saw the small box and carefully opened to check it. The ring sticking proudly as if taunting me to propose as soon as possible.

I've had it since Valentines Day, afraid to ask the most important question of my life. We've never really talked about it, which made me all the more nervous to pop the question.

My siblings assured me that I should just go ahead and ask. After the whole ordeal three years ago, my siblings and I became closer than ever. They bridged our family as we talked about our own individual issues.

My parents still haven't fully accepted Colet but at least now they're civil. I'm hoping it would change soon.

I've been hyping myself for the past week and decided to propose today. I felt like now's the best time to start another chapter in our lives.

I pocketed the box and thought of when will be the best time to pop the question.

After a few minutes, Colet arrived with our food. I again distracted myself from thinking about the ring.

We were eating when Colet commented, "Really? 'Single Ladies'? I think I've heard you singing that in your head at least a dozen times since last week."

I stuck my tongue out and made a face. "Then get out of my head," I said as I scooped up the last bite of my sundae.

Just as I was savoring the ice cream, I felt something hard and metallic on my tongue. What the hell?

I was quickly grossed out and spat it onto a tissue. Wondering what the hell it was, I looked at it while Colet quickly got down on one knee.

"I have whole speech on this pero di talaga ako magaling mag memorize so I'm sorry," Colet looked up at me, her eyes watery. "I used to ask the universe 'Why' for a lot of things but then I realized that it all happened so I could be with you. Right at this moment." she paused and tried to gather herself.

"Will you marry me, Maloi?" Colet asked.

"Yes!" I said excitedly. Then, also got down on my knee.

I got the box out of my pocket, opening it and showing it to her. With happy tears in our eyes, we both laughed at our timing.

"Obviously, I was gonna ask you din today" I told her as I sniffled. "Colet, I want to spend the rest of my life with you if you'll let me. Will you marry me?" I asked the question even though we both the answer.

"Yes," Colet said as she let me put a ring on it.

Colet laughed at my antics. "Kaya pala LSS ka!" she said piecing it together.

I looked at her as I felt my heart yearning to be with her forever.

"I love you." I told her.

"Mahal kita." She answered.
