07 | chapter seven

luna sat in class, the teacher's words fading into the background as she drifted back to the unexpected encounter with woojin the day before. his act of leaving the teacher to comfort her replayed in her mind like a movie on repeat.

the memory of their almost near kiss lingered, a tantalizing moment frozen in time. the intensity of that fleeting connection left luna frustrated, a mix of longing and confusion swirling within her.

lost in her thoughts, she didn't notice woojin who was most probably also affected by the near kiss that happened yesterday. woojin on the other hand couldn't forget the words she had told him, luna herself not remembering due to her drunken state, but ut was right before she drifted off to sleep and woojin couldn't help but think that maybe in some way she actually felt the same way, the words that replayed in his mind like a bittersweet melody, made him go back to that moment;

woo-jin entered luna's villa to find her on the living room floor, tears silently falling down her cheeks. he approached her softly, offering his comforting presence as she leaned into him, seeking solace in his warmth.

in the quiet of the moment, their eyes met, speaking volumes in a wordless exchange. a charged tension filled the air, drawing them closer until an almost kiss hung between them, a fragile bridge between friendship and something more.

luna's voice, barely audible, broke the silence, "why did you choose her over me?" the question lingered in the room, heavy with unspoken emotions, leaving woo-jin speechless, his heart torn between conflicting desires.

as luna drifted into sleep, woo-jin was left bewildered, grappling with the weight of her words and the unspoken truths hanging between them. the night was a canvas of unanswered questions and unresolved feelings, painting a picture of longing and confusion in the dimly lit room.

the bell signaling the end of class snapped luna back to reality, but the memory of woojin's comforting gesture and the almost kiss stayed with her, a silent echo in her heart, leaving her with a whirlwind of emotions she couldn't quite unravel.

as the air inside their hang out place filled with tension, luna decided to escape the awkward atmosphere between, here, rian and jae i. woojin on the other hand wasn't anywhere to be seen, until she had stepped out from the hang out and on her way to the field. she witnessed a scene she so much had hatred for.

she watched as woojin took a drag from vape as Ms Han has approached him. "do you think that means jae i and ri an are officially over now?" ms han asked as luna rolled her eyes, why was she so invested in the students lives? "jae i seems to think so, but ri an still wants her." woojin had answered her question after taking another drag from his vape.

"it's crazy, why is she with that scholarship kid all of a sudden? we don't want another tragic to happen." she spoke in a softer tone as she pouted, luna couldn't help but scoff. she slowly approached the two but woojin's next action caused her to halt her steps. he had leaned in to give ms han a kiss, and the memory from yesterday turned from a moment of comfort to a moment of betrayal. and luna couldn't help but believe it never meant anything to him.

luna turned on her heel as she decided to leave the scene before woojin had seen her. a tear had slipped from her eye as woojin suddenly called for her. "luna?"

she stopped but didn't turn around immediately. when she did, her face was a mask of fury and pain, eyes glittering with unshed tears. woojin approached her cautiously, his hands raised in a placating gesture.

"luna, let me explain," he began, but she cut him off sharply.

"explain what, woojin? that you were just with ms. han again?" her voice was laced with sarcasm, her body trembling with pent-up frustration. "do you think i didn't see you two together?"

woojin opened his mouth to respond, but she held up a hand, silencing him. "no, don't. you don't get to talk. not after what i've seen."

she took a step closer, her eyes locking onto his with an intensity that made him flinch. "i remember that night, woojin. the night i saw you kissing her. i remember everything."

woojin's face paled, his eyes widening in shock and guilt. "luna, i—"

"shut up!" she shouted, her voice breaking. "just shut up! do you even care about how much you hurt me? do you have any idea what it felt like to see you with her?"

he tried to reach out, but she recoiled, her face a mixture of rage and anguish. "yesterday, woojin. did that mean anything to you? or was it just another lie, another moment to fill the void until you could be with her again?"

woojin was at a loss for words, his mind scrambling for something, anything, to say that could make this right. but luna wasn't finished.

"you need to make a choice," she said, her voice steady now, though her eyes were still filled with tears. "it's me or ms. han. there's no in between, no more half-truths. choose."

the weight of her demand hung heavy in the air. woojin felt like he was suffocating under the pressure. he opened his mouth, but the words wouldn't come. his mind was a whirlpool of confusion and regret.

"i'm waiting, woojin," luna said, her arms crossed over her chest, her expression one of bitter determination. "i deserve an answer."

woojin's silence was deafening. he could see the hurt deepen in luna's eyes with every passing second. finally, she shook her head, a bitter smile twisting her lips.

"you know what? it doesn't matter," she whispered. "if you have to think about it, if you can't choose me without hesitation, then you've already made your choice."

with that, she turned away, her steps quick and purposeful. woojin reached out, desperation clawing at his throat. "luna, please!"

she didn't stop, didn't look back. as she disappeared down the street, woojin felt a crushing sense of loss settle over him. he stood there, rooted to the spot, his heart breaking in his chest, the reality of his actions hitting him with brutal force.
