The air was thick with tension as the gang stood around the netted Faceless Ghoul, their earlier bravado evaporating into a shared sense of unease. Fred, Velma, and Daphne exchanged uncertain glances, while Shaggy, Scooby, and Courage continued to tremble, their wide eyes locked on the spectral figure.

The ghoul, still trapped but strangely composed, began to speak in its dark, creepy, whispery voice. "I wanted you to get out... so I could give you some gas... for your van..."

Fred, visibly shaken, cautiously approached the ghoul. He reached out and took the gas canister from its ethereal hands. "T-Thank you," Fred stammered, his voice barely above a whisper.

The Faceless Ghoul nodded slowly before disappearing into thin air, leaving behind only a lingering chill and a deep sense of bewilderment. Shaggy, Scooby, and Courage huddled together, their shivering bodies testament to the lingering fear.

"Did that... did that really just happen?" Daphne asked, her voice tinged with disbelief as she looked at Velma and Fred.

Velma adjusted her glasses, her analytical mind struggling to process the encounter. "It seems we just experienced a real ghost," she said, still grappling with the idea. "But scientifically, there has to be an explanation..."

Eustace and Muriel, who had only vaguely been aware of the commotion, walked over, curiosity piqued but largely oblivious to the true nature of the night's events. "What's all this fuss about?" Eustace grumbled, rubbing his eyes and casting a cranky look at the gathered teens and their dogs.

Muriel, always the picture of kindness, smiled warmly. "Are you kids alright? Did you sort everything out?"

Fred, still holding the gas canister, nodded. "Yes, ma'am. We were just... surprised by a very unusual... helper."

Daylight began to break over the horizon, casting the eerie events of the night into the clarity of morning. The first rays of sun brought a sense of relief, chasing away the lingering shadows and cold.

The gang, now more composed, gathered their belongings and prepared to leave. "Thank you so much for your hospitality, Mrs. Bagge," Fred said, shaking Muriel's hand warmly. "And you too, Mr. Bagge," he added, though Eustace was already grumbling his way back into the house.

"It was a pleasure having you all here," Muriel replied, her eyes crinkling with genuine warmth. "Take care on the road, and remember, you're always welcome back."

Fred filled the Mystery Machine's tank with the gas provided by the ghoul. The gang piled into the van, ready to leave the strange events of the night behind them. Scooby, with his characteristic charm, waved a paw at Courage. "Roodbye, Courage!" he called out, his tail wagging.

Courage, still a bit wary of the large dog but feeling a newfound sense of camaraderie, hesitated before reaching out to shake Scooby's paw. A small, shy smile appeared on his face. "G-goodbye," he managed, his voice trembling slightly.

Just as they were about to drive off, Shaggy suddenly remembered something. "Like, wait a second!" he exclaimed, hopping out of the van. He jogged over to Courage and held out a familiar box. "Here you go, little buddy. Try a Scooby Snack."

Courage hesitated, then took the snack from Shaggy's hand. He nibbled it cautiously at first, then his eyes lit up with delight. He hopped around happily, savoring the treat. "Thanks!" Courage said, his earlier fear momentarily forgotten.

The gang waved goodbye as they drove away, the Mystery Machine kicking up dust on the old road. "Scooby-Dooby-Doo!" Scooby-Doo shouted joyfully, his head sticking out the window.

As the van disappeared into the distance, the peaceful calm of the Bagge farmhouse was restored. Inside the house, however, Eustace's voice rang out in exasperation. "Muriel! Where did all the food go?!"

Muriel chuckled softly, shaking her head as she headed back inside with Courage by her side. The adventures of the night had brought a strange excitement to their usually quiet life, and as she looked down at Courage, she felt a deep affection for her brave little dog.

Courage, feeling a mixture of relief and pride, watched the road where the Mystery Machine had vanished. The Scooby Snack still lingering on his taste buds, he knew that despite the fear and chaos, he had made new friends and faced down the terror of the night. And somewhere, in the recesses of his mind, Courage felt a sense of readiness for whatever might come next. After all, in the middle of nowhere, you never knew when the next adventure might begin.

The end.
