after several boring days in bed xie yun join the two lords for an afternoon training session which is cut short by an urgent message from his father.

after the midsummer hunt he was set for several days of bed rest to heal his wounds.

he was getting a bit restless after spending a few days confined to his room.

"lin... why can't i leave the room? it's been 3 days. i feel fine." said xie yun.

"the physician said you need to rest. your body needs to heal." said lin.

"i just want some fresh air." said xie yun.

"i shall open the window then." said lin.

"lin, you know what i mean." said xie yun.

"you expect some visitors?" asked lin.

"i just miss spending time outside." said xie yun.

'i am just saying that to lin... but i really hope someone would show up...' thinks xie yun.

just then there is a knock at the door. lin opens it to reveal lord ji chong.

"perfect timing. what a lovely surprise lord ji chong." said xie yun.

"i just missed seeing you around these last few days, so i thought i would come see you." said ji chong.

he magically presents xie yun the cake and flowers he brought him out of nowhere.

"what a thoughtful gesture!" said xie yun.

ji chong shoots him a slanted look with a naughty glint in his eyes.

xie yun asked lin to leave for a moment.

"actually i was wondering how you are healing?" asked ji chong.

"i have been healing just fine. i have been ready to leave this room for days. but lin and the physician seem determined to keep me locked away." said xie yun.

"would you like to take a trip outside your room tomorrow?" asked ji chong.

"do you mean it? would you take me?" asked xie yun.

ji chong chuckles.

"i am supposed to train with shi ying in the morning, so perhaps after that?" said ji chong.

"training sounds rather exciting." said xie yun.

"then come for both." said ji chong.

the next day, ji chong leads xie yun into the empty arena and through to some seating along the outside of the ring.

"sit here. you will have a good view while we train." said ji chong.

"i was wondering if you might teach me some things?" said xie yun.

"anything, your highness." said ji chong.

he bows to xie yun playfully.

"i got lost in those woods and had no idea how to defend myself." said xie yun.

"xie yun, you have me now... i will always protect you." said ji chong.

just then shi ying walks out of the armory and spots xie yun. he rolls his eyes, seems quite annoyed at xie yun.

"lord shi ying, i am glad that you are happy to see me." said xie yun.

shi ying feigns a superficial grin.

"why are you here?" asked shi ying.

"i came to watch ji chong train and so i could get some fresh air." said xie yun.
