Xie yun's father threw a big birthday ceremony for him and made a big announcement.

Xie yun's maid lin opens the door to announce his entrance.

"The perince xie yun is here, my lord." Said lin.

"Hello my dear, we have something to discuss." said king gaozu.

"Is it anything worrisome father?" Asked xie yun.

"Well, as you are aware our country is plagued by war. We need to make alliance to keep country safe." said king gaozu.

"Yes father." Xie yun said sadly.

His father cast him an ambiguous look.

"That's why the country needs you to find a husband in one of the strongest kingdoms." Said king gaozu.

"A husband?" Asked xie yun.

"I have planned a ball and summer festival in your honor for your 18th birthday. A lot of eligible royal men will attend. You can make your pick then." Said king gaozu.

"What if i don't like any of them?" Asked xie yun.

"It is your duty to marry a royal man." Said king gaozu.

"But father..." said xie yun.

"No, xie yun. I will not have you fight me on this. It is final." Said king gaozu.

His father exits without further discussion with him. Lin shoots him a concerned look.

"I wanted to meet someone that i can fall in love instead of an ally after precise calculation." Said xie yun.

"Haven't you heard of love at first sight? I heard there will be a lot of hansome royal men will be attending.  And so many people have found their love there." Said lin.

"i'm not judging anyone by their face on the first sight..." said xie yun.

"trust me, that will be a pleasant surprise for you." said lin.

it is the night of the ball. from the terrace xie yun see royal men in lavish clothes making their entrance.

he find himself quite nervous, but also surprisingly excited.

door swing open and and then xie yun is inside the ballroom where the herald announce him.

polite applause ripples through the crowd and everyone curtsies as he walk by. king gaozu introduces him to a few royalties.

'i see a lot of lavish royal men here but none of them really catch my eye. they all seem terribly boring.' thinks xie yun.

a young royal man is speaking with a maid off to the side before flicking his eyes at xie yun.

he has smooth skin and perfect features as if he was carved from marbles. he is tall and trim and has a elegant look about him.

xie yun make eye contact for a bit as he raises an eyebrow at him and winks.

"father who is that?" asked xie yun.

"Lord shi ying. he is a very important royalty for you to meet but other toyal men are your targets." said king gaozu.

'i'd very much like to meet him.' thinks xie yun.

"but i do not see his brother around... his brother always was a bit of a trouble maker. sit here. the herald will introduce the royal men to you shortly." said king gaozu.

xie yun sit on the throne and watch as the herald collects the royal men and herds them to the center of the ballroom to be announced.

"which man would you like to escort you through the first dance of the ball?" asked herald.
